Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

My target for this year has always been a top 6 finish and a trip to Wembley with hopefully a cup to brag about on the way home. I never got too carried away with the "we have to finish in the top 4 straight away" bollox. I fully understand the reasons why CL football as soon as possible is desirable (better transfer targets/platini's restrictions etc) but I also understand that football isn't that simple.
Hughes has gone because he didn't achieve the targets the owners set for him, so they obviously think top 4 is the minimum target and to be honest i like that optimism (if not their way of achieving it!)
I still think europa league via the PL would be a good step forward and we have as good a chance as ever of getting to Wembley so my targets remain the same! There is a real battle on for 4th though which, if Mancini hits the ground running, may very well be achievable.
So, what are everyone else's new/revised targets for the year?

Mime are the same as what I thought the clubs were. A top 6 finish and two decent cup runs. Obviously the club has revised their's, I haven't.

I was looking for a minimum of Top 6 and 2 decent cup runs which involved getting to at least one semi final. We were on track for both these targets and the manager was sacked, the club must therefore have a target of a minimum 4th place finish. I am now expecting the same in addition to a Cup final.

'nailed on' is not a term I am familiar with in association with our club.

Top 6 was nailed on? please... we were 7th when the decision was made. easily could have finished outside top 6 and, of course, still could. Target remains to give every drop of blood to get that 4th spot.

The statement on the website said they had set targets pre season but due to other events these had changed and the amount of draws wasnt good enough.
This obviously means they wanted 6th at the begining of the season but because the sky 4 aren't as competetive as usual the owners changed there mind and feel we could be up there with a game in hand.
I personaly dont think we are too far off 4th but atleast the new guy is coming to a team/club on the up unlike normally when you have a new manager and you are near the bottom of the division.

When are we thinking the decision was made? Because we were 8th before the game yesterday.

Odd by name odd by nature!
Our biggest chance to win a trophy in decades, 6th place at Christmas and 3 points off fourth if we win the game in hand? A waste?!

FFS, knock that off. We are 6 points off 4th...that's it, no fucking 'game in hand' ever counts as 3 points, ask Newcastle.

Show me the exact table and the performances and I'll give you an answer! But in general the manager's performance should be reviewed every May and November to see if sufficient progress, or signs of progress, are being made towards targets. Things would have to be very bad not to give him 18months though!

It's gone from a top 6 (realistically 5th) finish and a cup under Hughes, to a top 8 finish and a non-embarrassing semi-final scoreline now.

The Sheikh must not have liked the reports he was given ;)
The target for this season is top four. No doubt about it. It was top six, but like Khaldoon said, circumstances this season mean there's a greater chance then ever to get into the top four and Hughes was sacked so that could be acheived, make no mistake about that.
I hope to God it was the right decision.

LOL. No, he mustn't. A greater chance of achieving it is what they are gambling on.

I think top four is a target now the scouse red are falling apart. This is our best chance with so much money invested. We probably are not gonna get a better year to get into the top 4. I honestly think that's why such drastic measures were made in the removal of Hughes.
