Fair enough.

Can you please point out the positives.

Positives from this game are thin on the ground, but suggesting sacking Pellers is ridiculous. We lost a game, we're still in for the title, still in the CL. Not the end of the world.

That's a long time. Especially seeing we seem to concede so many.

Hart vs Chelsea last season.

I must have amnesia. I don't remember that at all.

I agree entirely....

The defence as always worries me.... Richards, when did he last play? Don't think DM and Joleon have ever paired.... Clichy must stay back and Garcia needs to stay switched on....

Looks like Manuel is taking the "Keegan" approach with this one....

I'm not confident with that team selection, at all. Yes, we've got good players but, as you say, when have they played or played together? Going forward we look very good but the selection at the back worries me.

I was never confident with this and I'm not paid millionts to make the call. Peller's done well so far but if we're not challenging for the league then I can see people starting to turn.

To be fair, it was always going to be difficult for the players not to be thinking of the Barca game. And the script was already preordained, 'return of the conquering hero'
Now all we've got to do - to make up for today's disappointment - is to knock Barca out on their own pitch.

And let's forget: we've won all three domestic trophies over the course of a three-year period.
Not too shabby

That second goal really was a clusterfuck.

Demichelis letting them wander by, Richards refusing to tackle, Clichy being beaten when he was closer to the ball and Pantilimon doing nothing at all.

Wouldn't be sad to say goodbye to two or three of that back line today.

We put out our worst back four. Predictably they were all terrible. Richards the worst of the lot. His non tackle for Wigans second is breathtaking. Compounded by Cliche and Pants.

Djeko managed to spurn 3 great openings.

Our lack of pace was disturbing today but I knew we would struggle when I saw the team.

We can get away with playing the odd Djeko, Lescott, Garcia, Richards, Cliche, Pantillimon..... But all at the same time in the same team? That spells defeat. and of course we didn't get away with it.

My biggest fear is that it will destroy the rest of the season.

True enough, but we were at home to a Championship side. If we played the first team and won, everyone would have moaned about them being knackered for Barca. Second tier at home has got to be a weakened side, away to Barca, a full strengh one. A gamble that backfired.

The only positive (and I'm clutching at straws here) is that we can now concentrate on winning the league as I have written off us getting past Barca. With only the league to play for and no cups distractions, we might just pull it off, with our opponents (apart from scouse) still involved in FA and Champs league.
Having said that we'll need put this shitty performance behind us and get back to winning ways. It would help if our strikers start to remember how to score goals again !!

I think Pellers got it wrong today from the off. Too many players who aren't comfortable on the front foot - Demi, Richards, Garcia, lescott and Clichy.

I get infuriated when I watch Garcia plodding and Pellers can't see what a difference Milner makes with simple energy and apetite.

Back up players proved yet again that they can't be trusted. This squad is so thin on real talent. Basically, we have a squad stuffed with millions of pounds worth of shite.

I think it was a desperate gamble as our chances of overturning the result against Barca (barring a miracle) are very slim. I think the Count blundered big time today. And is till don't understand his taking Yaya off. What was that about ??

Milner already proved to Pellers that he's a long way from being a central midfielder.

Completely agree. The whole back four are really not up to it. Without exception.

Kompany does well to hold our defence together and Zaballetta is quality. The others are dogshit. Thankfully Lescott already has his marching orders and hopefully Richards has played his last game. We are desperate for defensive reinforcements.
