He started the season slowly (which is often the case for those new to the Premier League) but he's getting better and better and is a key part of our side now. He's adapting to English football very well and I think he's going to be an important player for us in the next few years. I didn't know much about him before he joined but he's put in some excellent performances this season, and I think he's only going to improve further.
The fee we paid was still too high and I still maintain we would have benefited from keeping Barry this season as our midfield was horribly exposed in many games earlier in the season. I just hope those early defeats don't come back to bite us. However, they are issues outside of Fernandinho's control and which the management team is responsible for.
It's also great to see his performances this season have been recognised by the Brazilian national team. He's clearly good enough to play for them, especially when you consider some of the others who get in their squad. From a selfish perspective, I'd rather there were no City players at the World Cup so they're fit for the new Premier League season, but as that's an unrealistic scenario, I'm looking forward to seeing Fernandinho perform on the big stage this summer.
