This Weeks Other Games

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The more I watch Barca, the more I hate them. They all go down so easily (including Madrid players). Neymar takes the cake though. Ramos barely touched him and he went down so dramatically! I hope Atletico go on to win the league.

Let's show the world what a real club rivalry should be like. None of that diving nonsense. Bring on the Manchester derby!

There seems to be an unwritten rule in football that if Barcelona are struggling in a game they get a penalty and a member of the opposing team sent off.

Quite eerie isn't it. If Real had won last night it's probably have put Barca out of the league run-in but as it is there is a point between the top 3 now.

Just as with our game, the ref couldn't wait to send Zab's off and although Demi had to go it was clear that the tackle was a yard outside the box.

These things aren't just random anymore, when you see a trend you have to question the integrity of the game.

The way they sidestepped it in the post match was apalling. Just little hints of how, 'perhaps' there was a little touch here before he went down, etc etc.

Penalties are supposed to be given for FOULS.

At least Ronaldo was actually deliberately tripped up. The other two pens were blatant cheating. Iniesta had no intention whatsoever of doing anything with the ball, & Neymar; it wasn't even a decent quality dive ffs. It was pathetic.

If refs are going to give this kind of shit, & the media & authorities are going to ignore it, then it is going to happen. They are all responsible for this.

What started out as a great, open, game of football between two sets of high quality players & possibly the two best players in the world, ended as a disgrace to football & should be shamed as such. Instead, people are wanking over it.

That is why, & how, they can can get away with it.

It was an enjoyable game until all the cheating shit kicked in, then it got out of hand. uefa dont seem to want to do anything about cheating and diving, it ended up ruining the game last night. Absolutely cant stand cheating.

Gibbs will have it rescinded and Oxlade-Chamberlain will avoid any further punishment. Arsenal to field a full strength side against their next three opponents.

Oh look, that includes us.

This is what will happen no doubt.

Unfortunately I was mistaken, it will only be a one match ban either way and that'll be Swansea.

Unfortunately, you were not mistaken. No ban for gibbs OR ox-chamb.

Haha so funny that neither is suspended. What a fuck up but both rulings make sense--mistaken identity and no denial of a clear goalscoring chance

From reading the BBC news article, the UEFA rule doesn't mention intent, so it wasn't taken into account by the appeal panel.

Having spoken to a friend of mine, he cited it as a professional foul and therefore a red. Made a lot of sense. This also covers the intent portion of the debate.

Hasn't the "professional foul" wording now been take out of the laws?

Why doesn't it surprise me to see you posting that. You're like a tabloid's wet dream.

He was effectively shooting at an open goal given the bollox the keeper made of it. It bounced 2 yards out from the goal, if the keeper was any use he would've back pedalled and had a simple catch.

Goal of the season my fucking arse.

Now that is a contender no doubt.

I just can't put Rooney's in that category because it was the keeper's fuck up as much as his execution that made the goal.

Honestly don't know. Commentators still use it when talking about the last defender foul though.

They just interpret the rules as they see fit.

We see red cards one week, not even a yellow the following week. Tackle from behind at the halfway line, defender gets the ball, player barely touched at all= free kick, or get the ball first but heavy impact= yellow card. Tackle from behind, Dzeko taken out as he was about to shoot, City get pen, red card, then the card is rescinded.

Player handles ball. Pen. Player handles ball same. No pen. Player handles ball above head, no pen. Player does same, pen, yellow card.

Suarez sticks out a leg & makes contact with defender's trailing leg, pen. Ashley Young does the same= dive. Then pen next time. Then another pen, then it's a dive again, then it's a pen again. Pundits agree each one was correct.

Newcastle have goal disallowed for offside= uproar. Player passes ball through to stiker in offside position, who doesn't touch the ball, up goes flag, no problem. Player passes ball through to stiker in offside position, who doesn't touch the ball, his mate scores up goes flag, no problem. Player passes ball through to stiker in offside position, who doesn't touch the ball, his mate scores no flag, no problem.

And on & on & on it goes.

They are making the fucking lot up, as they go along.
