Football shirts

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Football shirts

Postby Pretty Boy Lee » Tue Apr 01, 2014 9:28 pm

Was having a chuckle at Joey Barton's rant about the new England kit the other day and then on facebook noticed someone say the city kits had gone up too.

Went on the site and the default setting for us now out them in Aus dollars and matched the shop price over here of $150. To put that in perspective at the start of the season I could either buy the shirt as is in our local sports shop for that price or for about $40 less have it ordered from the club shop, prem badges and name and number plus postage. Not any more.

From memory they were about 55 quid at seasons start, even when going to the desktop version of the site to check UK prices they came in at 85 quid now. So I dropped the club an email asking why and mentioning that this seasons kits were expensive enough considering the huge drop in quality from last season. My home kit didn't last one wear without bobbling.

Sadly I got a pathetic "we don't set prices, nike do" response from the club, basically saying stiff shit. I've been buying all the tops for years now, think next season will end that for me. To think the same thing I used to get for about $110 is now going to cost me well north of $200 a pop, disappointed to say the least. Has anyone seen if the price hike has taken effect in the club shop as well?

They are still about USD90 here in the US. Pretty much everywhere. That's a short sleeved top with no extra childish shit on it.

cheers

You don't have to buy a replica kit.

Or if the price is pissing you off and Nike have set it just buy one of those Thai fakes for a tenner.

I used to always buy at least one shirt, the quality of these this season was so shocking i haven't touched one. They're poor and i expect the thai fakes will be better made!

Agreed.Even Le coq sportif and reebok produced better efforts. The umbro kits were great and they are owned by Nike so why did we end up with such poor quality shirts?

You're right I don't have to, but a mid season price hike is discussion worthy. If tickets were 45 quid one week and 80 the next we'd be talking about it.

Seriously not impressed with Nike. Saw something on Facebook about our kits for next season. I hope it was a wind up. Can't see a mainly red away shirt going down well.

Did you see that yesterday, by any chance?

Also, are we getting 1, 2 or 3 new kits next season, does anybody know?

The plot thickens.....I wonder if this is to do with whether it is a 'Shirt' or a 'Replica Shirt' as per the England shirt. If it was the latter, you would have thought MCFC would make an attempt to explain the reason for the additional cost wouldn't you!

It is - they are £49.50 on the website, which is still a ridiculous price. I'm on my work VPN, which makes it think I'm not in the UK even though I am - iPlayer etc won't work. Not sure where it thinks I am, but it was still showing as £49.50. Is it something to do with import taxes, although in which case, I'm surprised the price is in £?

Thankfully my Umbro shirt looks like it will last a few more seasons yet

Who the hell would pay nearly 90 notes for a footy shirt?

There aren't any import taxes for KSA, (price is in £ because of site preferences) and on top of that VAT should be removed from the sale price for exports outside the EU. No idea what's going on - but if I go to the site as a UK user, I can buy it and get it delivered to KSA for £6.50, making the total cost about £51, roughly what it costs to buy from the Nike shop here

It says £88.83 for me. Don't have a clue why it's 15p cheaper in Bosnia than Saudi Arabia...
