Dont think a new manager will be the golden ticket. It will take more than the reported £150 million to sort that shitty squad. Plus if they go for Van Gaal then there is the small matter of a World Cup between now and him taking over. Does not give him much time to get his feet under the desk.

David Moyes: 'Chosen One' banner may go to football museum

The banner that became a focal point of David Moyes's struggles as Manchester United manager may end up in a museum.

'The Chosen One' sign has hung from the Stretford End at Old Trafford since August, but will be removed before Saturday's home match with Norwich.

Stretford End Flags, which had the banner made, could donate it to the National Football Museum in Manchester.

The banner was made after Sir Alex Ferguson anointed Moyes as his successor before quitting last May.

A Stretford End Flags spokesman told BBC Sport that donating the banner was one of a number of options under consideration.
There had been intense debate over whether the banner should have remained as long as it did.

Fans who were openly critical of the former Everton boss called for its removal in the wake of a succession of damaging defeats.
Those were resisted, but it will go following Tuesday's sacking of Moyes.

A National Football Museum spokesman said: "Every object within our collection needs to fit within our strict collections guidelines.

"We are offered objects on a regular basis and while we are always grateful for these offers, we often have to decline for reasons of space and because it doesn't fit within our guidelines."

Unless FFP suddenly collapses or United are exempt, they wont be able to spend this fabled £100-200M they keep jabbering on about. Even if the Glazers wanted to. A situation exacerbated by the loss of revenue next year.

I'm not sure mate and can see the Glazer's putting a few more shares across. Since about Feb their share price has risen from around $14.50 to just short of $18 as of today. An investment firm have been buying up the shares and it isn't inconceivable that they know exactly what's going on in the background, ie. The Rags putting more out there.

There's also the various deals with Nike et al with the Chevy 53 mil one kicking in next season. Don't be surprised to see Nike giving them a huge rise with possible money upfront in order for the Rags to compete.

As long as they don't make losses, they'll be able to spend whatever the want. It's just a matter of where the money comes from.

Remember Beefy that they only made 10% of their shares available on the NYSE in 2012.

Since transfer fees are amortised over the duration of the contract, their annual profit would "only" take a hit in the region of £20m to £40m. Plus an unknown increase in wage-bill. That should be sustainable as these fuckers' revenue dwarfs our own.

At the same time they'd be jettisoning big earners like camel gob and Vidic.

Unfortunately, john, I think this is wishful thinking.

Aye, I know mate. The 10 per cent are no use to man or beast as they don't have the voting rights. They do however, give the club a price and that can now be used to push further shares out. I think there's a few out there who will keep the price high in order to tempt the Glazer's into a further share issue.

I'm no expert mate but if the Glazer's see the $$$ signs I don't think they'll be able to resist.
