He put in a great shift yesterday, scored a great goal, ran his bollocks off. Well happy with his effort. Well done Edin mate!!

He's scored consistently throughout the season, he gets big goals and more than anything, he's always fit.
Some of our fans though will never warm to him which is a shame.

The fact is he pops up with crucial goals and sometimes great assists. But most of the time he is truly awful in control and passing (and shooting) - so how do you reconcile the 2 Dzekos? Is the one worth the other?

I'd say so. The biggest factor is honestly that he's always fit. Aguero, Negredo and Jovetic have all been plagued with injuries to some degree. If we hadn't have had Dzeko, there is no way we'd be in the title race still.

He is an enigma though. I don't agree that he's awful at passing, quite often he plays very acute one touch lay offs when dropping deep a bit such as his pass for Toure yesterday.
A real confidence player and when he is confident he's very good as we saw yesterday.

If we're going to start getting rid of strikers, then Jovetic and Negredo should be shown the door before him but there's no reason to get rid of anyone.

His first touch and ball control are really bad, if he has to use his feet that is. Other than that, he's good in the air, as proven yesterday. His passing is not too shabby either. It's just his ball control, running with the ball, etc.

How come he is awful with his feet but (in your words) his passing is not too shabby either!

Does he only pass with his head?

His problem with his touch and control is his inconsistency. There are times when it's good and times when it's bad and maybe more bad than good but the sadness for me is that many fans just seem to remember the bad ones ( cos they are annoying at the time) probably because that's what's expected. Bit like the fans who only go on about Lescott being bad on the ball and ignoring he is a top defender.

It's not always like that for every player though as I seem to recall that Goater had a touch like a dustbin at times yet he is a legend.

Dzeko reminds me of Adebayor - you can tell in the first 5 minutes if it's going to be his day or not. And if it's not, he's awful.

The problem is the lack of effort when it's a bad day. When he's up for it, he battles, wins headers and tackles, holds men off, brings others into play. On those days, I'm not bothered if he scores as he's put a shift in.

Goater said a few months ago that he turned the fans around when he started running about. The same is true of Dzeko, but he runs one game and barely moves the next. If you say he's great, he shows you up the following week. If you say he's terrible, he makes you look daft the following week. I don't recall a player who has polarised blues as much as him and, in fairness, all views are valid if you watch him over two games.

Someone at City should track all his pre-match routine and try and see what changes.

Let's hope for three more games where he's really up for it.

Spot on about Dzeko. Surely he's definitely staying didn't Soriano or Tricksy say something very positive about him recently. Richards is going and we must get a replacement, Lescott's going ditto. Apart from those two positions there may not be any additions. I think Milner and Rodwell will stay and Garcia may be regarded now as adequate cover at defensive midfield. Where are the EDS recruits looking to join Lopes in the squad though.

Has carried our strike force the last few weeks.

Has improved greatly under Pellegrini, his attitude is also much better.

I have this sneaky feeling that he is going to be the man who plays a real pivotal roll in the next 3 games, he could become a real City legend.

Well done Edin,a great transformation.

Demichellis is another who transformation is remarkable. those on here who said he was a decent player are right. I thought he was shit after some high profile gaffs and lack off speed. Has been better than Vinny for a few weeks now.

The Edin that we see today ( yesterday) , is no different than the Edin that was making all the noises in Wolfsburg 5 years ago.

The difference ,imo , is that Pellegrini is finally listening to Brian Kidd.

Did you see the way the trainers on the bench hugged and celebrated on the 1-0,yesterday?

Lets's see now . David Silva, passes to the right Segio scores. Passes to the left Edin scores.

How many times has Edin been in the perfect position and not received the ball ?

Answer : too many.

As far as first touch is concerned. Edin is the spearhead of the attack. Sometimes we lose control and send him passes at knee height or higher. Samir, merlin, yaya for the most part don't get this.
Also , he's usually back to the goal when receiving the ball

This by the way , is not an Edin problem, it's a problem negs and sergio have.

He is , taking all issues into account ( injuries, performance, team work , jobs to do etc) without doubt out best striker.

Now if Sergio could only stay fit !

I still get the feeling though that Sergio does not like passing to him.
If he tried to play with him as much as he did with Negredo I think both of them would benefit.

Kun don't like to pass at all and it s not problem when he is on crazy form , but when hes not it's a problem. Two times at Palace game he easy could pass to Edin and Edin or Nasri and game would be over sooner plus better goal difference.

Sad but true, as much as I like him.
In two words: rivalry and trust.
Aguero was in Mancini's camp and Dzeko is more in Pellegrini's; Aguero was Mancini's golden boy. Aguero wants to remain the superstar and he sees Dzeko as a threat to that, despite their style of play being different and Aguero being obviously way ahead of him in terms of capability and always will be. He has warmed better to Negredo because he probably views him as a more 'palatable' understudy, but not a threat to his status. And there could also be personality clashes behind the scenes that we are not aware of; the body language between them when either of them scores is subtly lukewarm but noticeable if one observes close enough.

Boo yaa :).But without joking i did not say a lot i said only if we really need a goal and he has open man he should pass and well Aguero will hardly do even in that moment.Part fault is years of playing what ever he fucking wants in Atletico. For that theory about Kun see Edin as a threat , i do not believe so. Edin is often ignore when our three golden boys choose to play by them self.Sadly we have a bit of clans in our team but every now and then like against Palace and some other games when they go out like a team , then u see a real power of City. Just watch game again and even it was not 5 0 it's one of better games away this season, Palace did not do a fucking thing all game.

I think he's done exactly what we've needed him to this season. Come into the side when required and score goals. He's not 1st or even 2nd choice when everyone is on form so 20+ goals is fantastic in my opinion.
