Some posts from fans defending us. Must say, it's heartwarming to see people see through the bitterness of some fans and have a neutral view into what we're trying to achieve. I've put them in spoilerboxes to avoid a wall of text that would destroy the fabric of time. All from RAWK.

Yep city struck lottery gold, so what? So did Chelsea. Maybe FFP won't be the chocolate fireguard we all expected? Maybe it will serve to even things up a bit more.

At any rate if City win the league as they must now do they'll have deserved it, as all winners do. Don't mind City and its supporters. Sure you'll get some whoppers on forums - we have some of our own. However their 'core' support has probably been with them while they dropped down the leagues not so long ago. So good luck to em. And plus they share a common bond in terms of how we view their nice neighbours.

City isn't really the focus of the rant. If it had been Chelsea in this position your frustration would have been against them. The real focus of the rant is probably at the fact we got ourselves into the position to win the title, and then got ourselves out of it. And that's the frustration. City just happened to be the next best team who were on hand to take advantage.

You can keep adding hurdles for them to overcome like "they've spent X more than us" or "they played less attractive football" or "they won it late" or "they spent fewer days at the top" -- none of this matters.

At the end of the day we were in the driving seat and we capitulated when the going got tough. If they win it, they deserve it. It doesn't matter how and making excuses about how we're moral/financial/style winners only serve to make us look bitter.

We do appreciate how far we've come. But we also appreciate that the table doesn't lie and that whoever is at the top of it come the end of the season deserves it. You can close you're eyes to this or pretend we're the victors in some form or another, but everybody else in the country will look to the table to establish who he true winners of the league were.

Complaining about a financial playing field is ridiculous though. We've outspent 16/17 of the teams in the league over the past decade or so. Anybody can use netspend as a stick to judge or beat by. We can beat up City/Chelsea for spending more than us, and there will be 16 other clubs crowing how we've outspent them, too. Do Villa, Norwich et al "deserve" it more than us? Do Arsenal supporters say year on year they were the most deserving with their negative spends?

Fact is, City have balance in attack and defence, something neither we or Chelsea currently possess. We were close to winning the league, but we didn't have the consistency in the end. City deserve it.

Maybe he did but you can't blame City as a club for that. Plus that's not what prevented us winning it this season, assuming we don't. Our defeat to Chelsea did that. So it seems small time and sad to rant against City for the fact that we dropped the ball at the death. That takes nowt away from how brilliant it was to come from behind and take the top spot with a few games to go of course. But there's some right bitterness in here & it's basically frustration coming out, which is understandable.

Just a bit smalltime to mask it as some crusade against City. They've done excellently to come back from being seemingly dead and buried after our defeat and then the draw with Sunderland. It's not their fault they were allowed back in. Good sides don't waste unexpected second chances. It's a harsh lesson we'll no doubt learn from.

I think it's evident Suarez plays with the heart on the sleeve. Wouldn't argue with that. Is it for the club? Probably. But you wouldn't have got that argument last Summer when he was angling to be away. All players at the top will want to win the biggest trophies during the fairly short career they have. I've no doubt City's are the same.

Supporters won't care what feelings they may have for the club as long as they're successful & deliver trophies.

If City win the league then they'll have deserved it, simple as that. Their players deserve it and their manager deserves it.

It wasn't money that made those players good players. It was hard work and dedication to their craft. It was simply money that happened to put them all in the same team.

Likewise their manager, it wasn't money that made him a good manager. It was hard work and dedication to his craft. It was simply money that put him in charge of a really good bunch of players, and what manager wouldn't want that?

I wouldn't begrudge their fans either. They have every right to celebrate a title win, if it comes their way, just like any other group of fans. It's not their fault that their owner has a shitload of cash. And as has been pointed out, many of those fans supported the club through the dark times down the divisions, as their obnoxious neighbours lorded it over them for years.

The only person I would argue doesn't deserve it is their owner. Because he's bought the title. And to be fair, he could have spent his money on worse things than great players who play entertaining football.

So it depends on what you define as 'the club'.
The players, manager and coaching staff? The fans? Or the owner?
It's arguably a mixture of all three. But to say 'they' don't deserve it, is a bit too much generalizing for me.

And the fact that we pushed them so hard, is something we can all take pride in too, even if it doesn't end in silverware. This season has reminded the world what LFC and its fans are all about. And I wouldn't swap places with a City fan for all the oil in Arabia.

So we just deal in rags and bones then do we? What of Cardiff or Fulham who have just lost their premiership status, were they working off a financially level playing field compared to us? Sure, we provide for ourselves but let's not forget that it's highly unlikely we'd have found ourselves in the position to be bitter about City's money IF the money men hadn't jetted across and bailed us out, remember that?

For all City's money we should have beaten them at theirs and we did beat them at ours. If, and that's still an IF we don't win the league this year it will have come down to far, far more bad luck, momentary lapses of reason and individual errors than it will City or Chelsea's money having been the deciding factor.

You talk about Yaya and Silva, we have Gerrard and Suarez. We spent almost 10 million pound on a goalkeeper and a further £7million on a young c/b with potential, who hasn't kicked a ball for us yet and £15milllion on another c/b who may or may not live up to expectations! Since FSG bailed us out, in excess of £230 million has been payed out of the clubs coffers one way or another on transfer fees alone, nevermind wages in that time so we're hardly scraping the bottom of the barrel or dealing in peanuts!

This has got nowt to with the fantastic job Rodgers is doing so far and how the players to a man have been immense this season or how far we've come and nobody realizing it, this is about showing a bit of dignity and class amongst ourselves IF City pick up that trophy on Sunday. Let them do their thing, we'll do ours, we still have an amazing football club to support and if history tells us anything, never ever write Liverpool off regardless of the situation and that doesn't just stand for going into Sunday either!

They weren't the first though. Chelsea set the standard when Roman came in and bought players for £500m. There's no way Chelsea were ever going to win the CL without huge sums of money throw at them. Sooner or later City will do the same. I just hope FFP catches up to them and teams like us, Dortmund, and Atletico keep beating the oil clubs where it matters - on the pitch.

Hmm, three clubs in dire straits financially. Why is Atletico still without money after selling Torres, Aguero, Forlan and Falcao? Dortmund, man they had fallen far and only just came back, but were in a terrible financial status and now their biggest players are leaving, or already have done so.
Then Liverpool, they get bought out by Mr. Red Sox and spend loads on shit players and then complain we spend a lot... lol
