I'll qualify this by saying that Rooney is one of the strongest opponents I've seen City face in the Prem (not always).

Hoddle was looking at the formations & saying how Rooney should drop deeper, thus outnumbering their midfield/launching attacks.

I just thought about a typical Prem game, you could imagine Gary N**ille on commentary, with a hint of panic in his voice, saying "they've got to stop Silva getting in these holes, he's running the game, they're just asking for trouble.." etc.

So basically, if Silva played for England instead of Rooney, the team's football intelligence would go up 100%.

I noticed Barkley tried to do exactly that as soon as he came on & was great at it, until they all started playing cuntball, doing their own thing & stopped passing to him in there.

Also Sturridge: that's not a one off performance, that's what he is & what he does. For every curler into the top corner, there is a missed sitter, a dive, or a piece of greed. That's why he wouldn't get in our team.

I wouldn't call Edin a diver but the rest of this statement is true of him and he does get in our team. For the record I'm glad Edin plays for City.

That's all it was going to be though Beefy. The main objective of this game was to come through without any injuries. We weren't gonna learn anything from this game. A tad pointless really.

Barkley looked good again. The important thing though will be that all the hype doesn't get to his head and he starts overplaying, which happens to so many promising English players.
He should definitely start though.

I think you're being generous.

Play that starting XI with the same approach and you'll end up on 2 pts in the group at best.

I'm not sure mate. Although I think we'll surprise a few in the WC I don't feel that we've done oursleves any favours in these warm-ups. Teams will look at us knowing that our predominative instinct is to not concede rather than a decent team who will go out to play football and use attack as a form of defence.

Wiggy has not shown anything to suggest he should be starting. In fact, he is showing the kind of form that would see him back on the plane. Welbeck tries but has no real concept of what he is doing and the likes of Gerrard are too knackered from his exertions in the PL.

My issue is that we play one way and one way only. We'll go into each game not to lose and if we make it out of the groups I'll be more than happy.

only saw the last 15 mins of the first half as I had better things to do, like getting pissed in bury of all places.

playing shrek anywhere is just a liability and a waste of a spot. hate the ugly cunt, can't see how people say he's class.

averages 13 goals a season, that is pathetic for a an apparent world class striker.
Still here.

There were a few people who kept giving the ball away, the three most noticeable to me last night were Lallana, Rooney, and Wilshere. (Lallana at least offered some threat going forward and worked to try and get the ball back when he lost it though).

I honestly though Lallana was gash. Think it's too early and just a little too quick for him. Wiggy and Wilshire were even worse though so what was Wiggy's excuse.

Lallana isn't exactly young. If it's too ear for him now then he's never gonna be ready.

I don't think I mentioned the word young, just that the speed of which he's been thrown into the side is just too soon to go straight into a WC.

When it went down to 10, I watched wondering what we'd do in those circumstances. The way Honduras played was basically what we faced against 11 a few times, with a team who just sat there but then occasionally broke just to scare you.

It then became obvious how much better than England we are. I know it was a friendly and hot, but they really had no idea how to break them down and only Barkley looked likely to cause a real problem. Whereas we would have had the intricate passing of Silva, Nasri, Yaya, together with the width of the fullbacks and the intelligent balls to get them in, England had no one who could do it.

I'm disappointed for England, but glad I get to watch us each week rather than that shite.

Oh I think Edin misses more than his fair share that's for sure. He has a natural strikers instinct to be in the right place at the right time which is why he always bags a good few, but he misses lots as well. Spurs away last season seems to linger in the memory in this respect.

As I mentioned the diving element doesn't apply so I wouldn't (and hadn't) suggest Edin is a cheat on what I've seen over the years. He is as you say more than capable of scoring big goals in big games and the jury is certainly out on Sturridge here

I think England has a great kit this World Cup, the shirt is minimalistically phenomenal. I'm gonna root a bit for you just for that. Thanks!

I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Only 1 of that England squad could get into our best starting 11, Joe Hart. That speaks for itself as to why we shop abroad. England were crap.

Dunno about that....I think Barkley or Sterling could be special with our current crop of players and maybe not be starting every match but getting some solid playing time.

Lots of matches to go around when you play nearly 60 a season...if yr lucky.

Baines would have a shot - he'd probably end up first choice at City. Cahill has been great for Chelsea this year. He'd get games. Agree regarding Barkley and Sterling too and i reckon Pellers would love Lallana. So there's a few, but yeah City are vastly better obviously.

Don't think Sterling has the football intelligence to play for City.

Barkley could develop it.

Cahill & Baines would probably get games but still not be upto the standard we would hope for.

It would probably do Barkley a lot of good in one respect, to play alongside people like Silva, but the problem would be that unless he maintained that kind of level, he would be sat on the bench all the time.

I don't get the llallama love. He seems above average at best. And he's fucking geriatric for all this "potential" which folks bandy about. He's in his prime. If he isn't amazing now then he'll never be.
