Can't fault him too much tonight. Missed that chance but hit a good free kick and was unlucky with the header. Looked like he cared and used the ball well.
Difference is he didn't produce that extra bit of magic which Suarez did.

This is how it works, decade after decade.

'People said Keegan was past it, but he turned back the clock tonight' .

England as an attacking team looked worse on the whole with Rooney playing in his favoured position. Rooney, did ok, but nothing special. The team was less effective going forward.

Result= fuck the team, keep the star man in his favourite position for two more years. Same procedure, year in year out, decade in , decade out.

Yeah I don't see how one ok game and/or one goal has bought himself more time, especially in a game that was lost.

Square pegs round holes.

Play the best team not the best 11.

YAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn

We all knew this would happen.

Need a bigger pot of English players playing in the prem to choose from. Currently the ENGLISH Premier league is made up of 32% Englishmen.

Thats a sorry state of affairs.

It's both a quality and quantity problem. Another 30% who favour power and pace over technique and tactical awareness will change nothing.

10 - 12 years from now I expect MCFC through our academy to be the saviour/bedrock of English football - there is no other answer than for the system to develop potential into stars - our academy will likely be the leading such facility. England will likely be represented by English born and English naturalised citizens that have received the best training etc.

Meanwhile fuck that fat twat off immediately - not a blame / knee jerk reaction - he will be 30 (and past it) by the euros and 32 (and fucking way past it) for the next WC. Also end of the road for Gerrard and others - no space for 'lets give Waaayyynnnee a chance to become England's top scorer' and all that shit - put England first.

Don't lose a day/training match, friendly or qualifier in getting new/young potential into the squad to work together. they may not develop into great shakes but they will be no worse than the pampered prima donnas of the last decade or so

Seriously overrated. Just like I've always said.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Congratulations by the way.
Certainly over-rated but so is any half decent, high profile English or young player generally.
Not one of the 'greats' but on his day he can be a very good player, borderline 'world class'.
He does look on the decline but he's still arguably England's most naturally talented players but has never come close to performing at the level for England as he has done for the Rags. As Slim said had he had those chances against City, he probably would have got a hattrick.

He was alright yesterday for a change, played well, scored and tried hard, can't really ask for much more.
The big problem was the Liverpool crew and in particular Gerrard and Henderson who are one of the weakest international central midfield pairings out there.

I think Rooney might well be made Captain if, as is generally assumed, Gerrard retires from international football. His place in the team is sufficiently secure that he becomes pretty well the only choice. I can't see Joe or any of the defenders nor the youngsters getting it.

In your opinion.
In my opinion and several others on this thread, he has been.
That's about it.

A ggod player who is central to a certain teams style of play; he's the beneficiary. Play him in a different team where he isn't the centre of attention and this is what you get.

However, now he is one of the more senior players I can see the England players giving him what he was getting at the Rags and actually playing the game to his/our strengths.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

More annoying than anything is him making an excuse and then making out like it's a virtue. "We were too honest" oh hi fuck yourself, is you are going to claim responsibility then claim it, he could have said naive which is more accurate, but no, make out like we were too saintly to win, that washes.

Apparently this new site will turn you into Vhero and completely put a dent in your "Chief Grammatical Fucker" title.

That would be the spellcheck on my phone playing silly buggers, not a problem when I'm home though. And as I haven't corrected anyone in a long time, I think you now hold the honourary title of "Fucktard without a cause".
