Under Guardiola I doubt, you would be able to coast in training, Munich have Robben as the best example of a player maxing his ability, from Lazy, diving bastard to I will rip you to bits every time I get the ball. They get the rag rub of decisions no doubt, as do Barca. Madrid and the scousers last season.

For some reason, both teams Guardiola has coached seem to have been able to run much more than anyone else can. If he'd been an East German swimming coach in the eighties people would have questioned it but now noone does. Go figure. You're not supposed to become quicker when you're 29 or 30 but Robben does. Weird. Or not.

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

I had the fortune to watch a shed load of Barca games when he was manager. Teams Like Bilbao home or away would press and create a high tempo, manic at times, Barca worked the ball in such a manner the running was onto the ball and not off the ball as we all love to see, pass to the nearest man move. Simple one oppo switched off and Bingo, Robben plays right side cuts in. easy to stop for a left back, but never happens, he has simple instructions,
"The ball never gets tired" it is seen all around the Barca tour and on the video with Cruyf. We were running on Wed loads of it, sadly chasing back most of the night, that would have had PG on the roof of the stand.

I've watched quite a few games with Barca as well, although not live as I suppose you have, but it can't be denied that the energy levels of Barca at that time were immense, as are Bayern's now (of the little I've seen, tbf). I'm not saying that Guardiola was tactically inept but I'm saying that there seems to be a certain secret ingredient in his success. I might be wrong but I think it'd be stranger not to be suspicious.

Joy, the players get to do a job they love, with a coach who was as good as them and gets it.
