The first million pound player.
He wasn't actually the first million pound player as it goes. Was chatting with the then secretary of Forest the other week and the fee was £975,000. It was only the VAT which took it over the £1m mark and as VAT could be claimed back on player purchases it meant he wasn't the first. Apparantly Clough didn't want to be the first manager to shell out a million for a player
