As with last year, it's very likely both sides are going to drop a number of points between now & May. But we have shown we can come through when the chips are down. Chelsea's best player in those circumstances plays for us.

I am thinking the opposite Ted, I want to be 5 or 6 points ahead when the shit hits the Fan. I would like to see a guard of honour for once with a very relaxing last game of the season and not giving a toss what the result is at our ground or anyone else's. I know I am hard to please :-)

IMHO the West Ham game last year was OK.

I felts at ease with the QPR game too when Zaba scored the first.....took a decade off my life expectancy after that!
I would love it to be already sewn up going into the Southampton game and for Southampton needing a win to knock Utd out of the top 4 :-)

Most people on here want everyone to do the rags over regardless of anything else in the world. I find it hard to believe that even you could fail to understand this.

On the other hand, it is you.

Even when it's bad for us if they lose? I find it hard to believe that More to the point that we all fall for the media's games and thought they'd won it after 10 games .

I was one of those - but like all the other posters that I read - it was nothing to do with Chelsea walking the league!

For a lot of CITY fans hatred of the scum is the 2nd most important obsession marginally behind our love of CITY.

I think that I posted something along the lines of hoping Chelsea thrashed the scum - confident hat we can take care of Chelsea anyway.

I am sure most were meaning those sentiments rather than having conceded to the rent boys,

Edited to add: That said maybe I am at the extreme end of obsessive hatred of the scum. If I was to be offered 3rd of 4th place for the next 2 seasons in return for the scum not qualifying for CL then I would be sorely tempted. We are going to simply go from strength to strength and will win many trophies in the coming years but 2 more years out for them could send them into a scouse like decline. I would take 2 years of average if they were to get sent into long term decline. I am sure that there are many others like me - no lack of love for CITY though.

I'm not saying I'd prefer a battle at the death, just that if we were to find ourselves 6 points behind Chelsea in February, people will say it's over again. But it isn't.

Costa played against Sunderland and should have seen red. Matic is the key for me. Huge player for them.

I understand both opinions. It would be nice to have a cushy run in, but I've felt the same as Ted is saying above, for quite a while.
As long as this squad stay in touch until Yaya comes back from ACON I'd back them all the way to retain the title. 5-6 points behind, would be alright in my book.
Less would be better of course. Who knows we might be ahead. It'll be tough over the next couple of months but I think there is every reason to be optimistic that they will cope without Aguero. I'll take a hard ground out 1-0, all day long. I think Roma may be too much to hope for, but you never know. I see it as a bonus if they stay in the competition, but not bothered if they go out. It would be a huge boost though if they get a result under the circumstances.

Chelsea have wobbled without any real pressure. No matter what happens over the next two months, they will wobble again in the run in.
If we are breathing down their necks, they are likely to crumble.
Onwards and upwards.

Very, VERY good team that we shouldn't be complacent of. Yes we can beat them to the title but don't let a slip cloud your judgement, it doesn't cloud ours.

I think they've got the best midfield in the league (for quality in numbers) and their strike force is nearly on par with ours (not as good though) but where I feel we will get stronger is at the back while they will suffer a little as they go on.

Terry's legs won't be able to take Maureens relentless challenge.

Indeed they are a very good team. Things have been going very well for them up until this small wobble. We have unexpectedly hauled back a large lead that they had though over the space of a week.
The ball is firmly in their court now though when it comes to showing character.
They have excellent players in their team but if the run in comes down to handling the pressure I still prefer our lot.

If it comes to swapping out players, their keeper is better at the moment but I agree on all the rest, even Matic. The way we play, a lot of them would struggle.

Hazard is the big one, & the real benefit Abramovic has got, from FFP. If we had Hazard, we would be about 10 points clear of Chelsea already.

I did like how he was referring to all the mistakes the ref made in the game against Everton, whether it was in our favour, or not.

Almost everything good that happens with Chelsea, involves something Hazard does be it running with the ball or just running in pulling away players.

When they are doing fuck all in a game, it's almost always him, who puts them on the front foot & gets them some attacking momentum, plus making the oppo suddenly nervous.

With our players around him, playing in our style, & Aguero in front, he would be fantastic & score many more goals.

That said they aren't a dummy side either; Newcastle is their bogey ground and they came unstuck there, finding out that the drop off from Matic to Mikel is huge. Matic had played every minute of every game, and Saturday was uncharted territory for them.

In the lead up to Xmas they play Stoke, Southampton and Spurs away, with West Ham and Hull at home. Granted the Hull game is a knock over but the other 4 are tests of differing degrees. We need to be within 3pts or less of them come the 3rd round of the FA Cup - if we are, then its game on.

We could also do with Chelsea getting through in the Capital One cup next weds night, as it dumps another 2 games on them in January. In terms of ourselves, I actually think City are better hunting teams down than leading from the front so Id happily sit just behind them till April and strike then - let them have the press/media fawning over them and we can go about our business supposedly already out of it.

As for Redknapp - Junior and Senior - being as neither has been involved in a successful Prem Lge/top division title run-in I wouldnt place any stock in their opinion as its something they have no direct experience of - how would they know how it feels/goes? They can ask Jack Rodwell or Stefan Savic as they could tell you more.

I know I'm being pedantic, but we could follow the same logic and say that because you haven't been through it, your opinion is redundant.
