Sadly, as this is the gold standard, we're also signing Danny Mills.

I can't decide what to make of this link. The fees being mentioned seem seriously pricey but you can't argue with his goal scoring form.

I never really thought about him as a player the club would be looking to buy.I don't know about others but like many of our recent signings it's not really got me that excited.Yes im probably been a spoilt twat but hey what can you do

The only disappointing thing is that he going on Afcon duty.

He is a great signing IMO

Proven Prem quality
Proven to score goals, head, poach, and outside the box
links play well
Stronger upper body strength than any other striker (Akinfenwa doesnt count), you just cannot get him off the ball.

If I had a choice, he would have been the one I would have gone for

Does that include Scott Sinclair?

Bony is a proven goal scorer and should do very well if fed by Silva Yaya Nasri and Navas.

Missed 5 games in the last 3 seasons through injury

3 games in the 13/14 season, 1 game 12/13 and 1 game 11/12

I dont have a crystal ball but history tells us the likelihood of Bony getting injured in ACON is pretty remote

Mirror say fee of 30 million agreed with Swansea for Bony. Should think it's lower than that with add ons extra. Can't imagine we won't reach agreement with the player on terms. Again expect basic will be lower than publicised with add ons extra. The Press will come up with the four year figure including add ons for both transfer fee and wages to make it look as high as possible. Timing is obvious. Swansea want time to spend the money assuming they don't simply bank the cash.

Doesn't say . Stories in various media sites changing regularly with fee of £25 to £30 million agreed between both clubs . Personally can deffo see a player from us going to Swansea as part of the deal.

Ps Bony didn't play last Saturday in the FA Cup so both clubs were presumably in talks last week aswell .

I think the days of 'box office' signings are over for now tbh. Who was the last real global star that we bought? Aguero?
We're signing players who can come to the squad and do a job with minimal fuss. Bony is proven PL quality. He's not a world beater no, but he'll score plenty of goals for us.
If we can combine that with bringing few some of our own, then happy days.

It's £25m, or £30m + Sinclair

What do people make of this transfer's repercussions? Does this mean taht we're offloading one striker if not now so at least during the summer? Or is this the replacement for Negredo? I can't make my mind up. If Bony's the replacement for Negredo it's a transfer that clogs up the forward position for any of our EDS-playes (I can't believe the EDS stuck, it sounded so stupid in the beginning) for at least a couple of years ahead. If it's not the replacement, I think it's Jovetic's time that is up in the summer. Whatever the reason, it's a weird transfer to make now as basically everyone in this thread has already mentioned.

I'm surprised. No Tolmie, no rumours. What is this?

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

nearly perfect signing for us.

one of the strongest with hold up play, good link up play, excellent finisher with his feet or in the air, rarely injured (unlike most of our strike squad), done all this over 18 months in the PL, should blend in to the squad easily.

£30 mil is high (if true), but we're getting £25 mil for negredo so really only a £5 mil signing net, and cavani would cost a lot more.

to be fair we've been linked for months and when swansea came to COMS (remember we used to call it that?!) alot of lads said we should go for him.

I'm indifferent.

Hes quality but what does Dzeko add on top of him (besides proven goals at an important time; something he's yet to do this season).

With that reasoning I'd say its Dzeko to go surely as him and Bony are too similar.

£30 mil is high (if true), but we're getting £25 mil for negredo so really only a £10 mil signing net, and cavani would cost a lot more.

Plus it looks like Nasty is off to Italy (supposedly for £10 million).

I think this DOES represent good business for MCFC aside his goal scoring stats, proven performances and low injury record in the BPL; he will develop further playing at City with our world class players and coaches. I'm really excited at the prospect of Bony joining the club and going on, potentially, to become a real legend.

I believe we saw this exact same transformation with Negredo, when he joined the club, until sadly turned against the unique and inimitable weather of Rainy City, etc. Bony will hit the ground running (on his return from the ACON) and will definitely reduce some of the burden of goal scoring responsibilities on Sergio.

Given Jovetic's disappointing, and to be honest, sporadic performances e.g. last Sunday; Milner was bloomin brilliant, when he moved up front and embarrassed our alleged established forward by stuffing in 2 great goals; we absolutely need a more proven partner for Sergio.

He's quicker, technically more accomplished and successful in front of goal that Edin, I think it's a brilliant statement of our progress if we have the 2 highest goal scorers in the BPL playing for the club, backed up with Dzeko and Jovetic ( I still beleive Stefan will come good).

Bony is a good player now, at City he may become a great player!

There is no similarities between Dzeko and Bony.

While big Ed is more of a poacher type, box type of player, Bony looks more like a Drogbaesque type of player or like Tevez. Very powerfull, a player that seeks contact and is not afraid to put his leg on the line when is needed.
