Bit harsh that pal, his point was whether the registration of future signings would be owned by 'CFG' or by Manchester City, which seems a fairly relevant point given nobody seems to know exactly what the implications of our ownership structure are

Exactly Sparty.

I reckon this Lampard story has more mileage in it yet as the full facts are still murky at best. It's players like Nacho that I was hinting at may sign for CFG. Ultimately MCFC are the main team and will always be so and everything that CFG does will be to the benefit of MCFC. If that involves sending out players on loan to various sides around the world to promote that team then so be it. Clearly a MCFC first teamer won't go, but a Devante Cole or Brandon Barker might go to NYCFC.

It's precisely that in a nutshell NB.

Moreover and at the end of the day, without City there'd probably be no NYCFC, no Melbourne and no CFG.

City are at the absolute epicentre of all these developments and in the way that they are coming about.

Whilst I expect the reasons behind the setting up/acquisition of the clubs runs deeper than FFP, from a purely financial perspective, it would seem a logical strategy for City to sign the players, then pocket a sizeable loan fee from the other club, or in the case of players like Villa, Lampard, Xavi, actually take a fairly decent transfer fee to help balance our books.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if we kept on signing one fading superstar a year from now on to keep this going, effectively we could sign say xavi on a 2 year contract with an option to transfer to NYC at the end of year 1, and charge them an appropriate transfer fee covering the wages spent, meaning we probably would have had him for free that year.

If the players signed for CFG, there would be no actual benefit to any of the clubs, and the potential issues of a third party (specifically, not a football club) owning the registration, which is against premier league rules.

With regards 'that cunt from the MLS' Ted, yes, he does seem very relaxed about it all......and his statement about players coming at the end of the European season begs the question why nobody at MLS raised the question of where Lampard's contract was, when he was apparently signed to them

How about we send Bony to New York for 6 weeks in June to make up for his time off at the Africa Cup :-)
