Turns out that Stevie was injured and has had a scan on his hamstring.

Well Vhero, maybe you'd take a good fucking look at this post, just like you should have taken a good fucking look every other time its been CONFIRMED THAT STEPHEN IRELAND HAD AN INJURY.

CONFIRMED

CONFIRMED

For fuck sake stop insinuating that everyone around you is making up shit just to cover for a quality player.

Its fucking boring and as Slim said only a few posts ago, all of your posts from last season insinuated he wasn't that good either. Our PLAYER OF THE FUCKING YEAR.

Sweet Jesus, either I'm badly hungover or this board is the equivalant of a cyber acid trip today.

Dub chief I think you should calm it down a bit. I decided not to reply to your post where you called me a cunt but I think you're being over the top with vhero here.

On a side note if an injury is going to affect how a player performs then he shouldn't be playing. < I'm not saying that this is Stevies fault, before you attack that.

Mate, I'm perfectly calm.

I did think you were being a bit of a smart arse and I asked you if you were. I also said if I'd misunderstood you in anyway then I apologise and by not answering I can only presume you were being a smart arse because the other day I said in a thread that an in form and in favoured position Stevie Ireland is the type of player I would build a system around.... I felt you were trying to have a sly dig at me for referring to this when it turns out the guy was actually injured. Maybe you can clarify it now?

As for Vhero, I watch him change sides on an argument on a almost a daily basis - some in which he uses the exact same tone I just used to give people a bolicking for stating facts about all of Ireland's little niggles and injuries this season.

All I ever do on this site is fight fire with fire. I may well be a cunt, but I'm never a cunt for no reason.

I'm looking forward to your answer because if indeed that wasn't directed completely at me, it would seem you did a full U-turn on your argument the other day and now agree with me in full?

Mate I'm not u-tuning anything.

As I said I think a system comes first and I don't believe that one should be made around players. At Barca they do pretty much the opposite and mould players into a set system of how they believe football should be played. Now I know we're far from Barca's level, but because of the fragility of player/ club relationships I think that a system comes first.

If I'm being vague here then I apologise. But I would not like a manager to say "Steven, you play there behind the strikers and we will all work to accommodate you". Last season there's no doubt he was our best player, and with the players that have come in he has clearly been told to fulfil a different role. I think you'd agree that he's not done that as successfully as we'd hope he would, yet. Now that doesn't mean that we should put him back in the role he was playing well in but it doesn't mean he should be dropped either. Hughes & Mancini clearly thing he's doing a good enough job to stay in the team and who are we to argue with them? Just one of those two has more footballing knowledge than the whole of this board.

I remember at the start of this season Lampard suffered when he was asked to play a different role under Anelotti than under Hiddink. He struggled at first but came good. Perhaps Ireland just needs more time. Most of us here are huge Ireland fans like you clearly are yourself, so don't think we're trying no knock him (not necessarily speaking for vhero here).

That LINK proves nothing,

He picked up an injury and was taken off so what about the other 54 mins for those of you who are using this as an excuse....

I actually thought he made some excellent runs but there is one big difference, if someone doesnt pass it to bellers or Tevez they will Fook them out of it on the pitch however watch stevie, every time he makes a run thats not spotted he puts his hands on his heads,,and runs back but says nothing.

I also think the so called higher profile players look to find each other more with passes for some stupd reason, a prime example was against spurs where ade, robbie and tevez were happy to play meaningless triangle possesion for a whole half rather than spreading it about and thats terrible to say about a team but i found it a common problem under hughes.

That said, Ireland needs to be more vocal i think on the pitch NOT off the pitch and more clinical when chances arise.
