If it doesn't make you feel good about next season check your pulse......
Love his interviews. Not going to compromise on the first team were his closing words in part 1. I can't wait for part 2.
Although I would like to have seen some signs that more EDS players are closer to the first team he does make me feel they have it all under control and know exactly what they are doing. Fancy choosing the right back position to demonstrate we have identifiable talent at all different age groups to make it to the first team.
It was good to hear of the disappointment felt but he puts it forward in such a positive confident manner looking to the future that he makes me feel the same.
We are in good hands.
I am not sure I like that last line, I guess it could be taken two ways. However we've seen already that the policy seems to be in place that the established 1st team players are always going to play if they've available over the youngsters, no matter the value of the game.
I'd rather have us take a dip today while we blood these youngsters in the hope that it improves us for the next decade. If we're not willing to take that risk, then what the fuck is the point of the academy?
I think he means that we are not going to field a 'weakened' team, not that we won't play any kids. They have to be good enough.
We don't want to compromise the first team by throwing kids in, we want to strengthen the squad. I think the key point was what he said about how he's sat with Marwood & identified a succession of players in various positions, & even identified positions where we are weak in the academy in that respect, which means we will make further signings for the academy to solve it.
For the chairman to be looking so closely at the academy is proof he is serious about bringing kids through imo. But they have to merit it.
He is also I think talking about the difference between kids we've brought in, & kids who came through from a young age. Most of the best kids coming through right now, have been imported from elsewhere.
