There could be an element of that. But it makes us look a bit more desperate with three bids if so. If it was done and dusted surely we would have just gone in and bought the guy. Like Robinho or Aguero. No fucking around, go and get your man and pay the going rate. The Sheikh strikes me as a businessman who doesn't want to be fucked in the ass or be seen to be be fucked in the ass. If it goes to the fifty million the perception will be we have overpaid and we look silly and the selling clubs of our other targets will revise their prices

Agüero was world class when we got him. If he wasn't considered to be by the press at the time, the press are even more stupid than I would have guessed. Real Madrid didn't want him to warm their bench.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

He'd surely sign elsewhere if that happens or as others keep raising which has never happened before, which is buy out his contract. He'll go to Arsenal or Chelsea, surely, maybe even Man U.

Sterling is really getting skewered by most of the ESPNFC pundits. They really seem to loathe him. To me it's so silly as this is a normal culture in any other business. People with more talent or interest go on to bigger and better things. To me it's because it's the all holy Liverpool. If he did the same with us the attitude would be different.

Same old crap: ' all but bringing the title to Anfield amid an avalanche of goals' = failing to win the title amid a waterfall of tears.

Very simple.

Everything changes with the thought of a decent player coming to us.

Everything also changes with the thought of a decent player leaving the Dippers.

And this is what you get from the Dipper press and ex-players.

No he absolutely wasn't considered world class when we signed him. There were not loads of people saying 'let's sign Aguero'. In fact there were probably more a year or two earlier when he was cheaper (& headless).

Isco was not world class when Real signed him & they are in for plenty of players like that. In fact it could be argued (correctly imo) that Pogba isn't world class now.

Aguero was a hugely talented prospect to be world class in the future, not the finished article. If he had been that sought after, Barca would have signed him instead of Sanchez.

As for the press - if we were finishing in 6th place and we're demanding 50 million for Sterling from runners up and the previous seasons champs, Liverpool - can you imagine the stick we'd be getting?

On a related note has there ever been a less exciting 35m+ transfer saga? I mean some want him and some don't, but most don't really give a shit too much is what I can gather.

It's gone worryingly quiet on the pogba front. It's starting to remind me of some previous windows where big names have been linked and 2nd or 3rd choices have come instead.
