There could be an element of that. But it makes us look a bit more desperate with three bids if so. If it was done and dusted surely we would have just gone in and bought the guy. No he absolutely wasn't considered world class when we signed him. There were not loads of people saying 'let's sign Aguero'. In fact there were probably more a year or two earlier when he was cheaper (& headless).

Isco was not world class when Real signed him & they are in for plenty of players like that. In fact it could be argued (correctly imo) that Pogba isn't world class now.

Aguero was a hugely talented prospect to be world class in the future, not the finished article. If he had been that sought after, Barca would have signed him instead of Sanchez.

It's gone worryingly quiet on the pogba front. It's starting to remind me of some previous windows where big names have been linked and 2nd or 3rd choices have come instead.
