They're selling it already at the online shop so would be surprised if it is changed this season.

Just realised this makes it look like in running down to the city store to get the new home shirt with Sterling 7 on the back!

I'm definitely not, was just interested in what number he would occupy.

I just hope Sterling (and us fans) are patient. I don't expect the lad to reach his peak for another few years.

I agree it's steep but I don't see the gamble at all. He's English, knows the Prem, is an International regular, and has shown he can work alongside quality (in the form of Suarez). There will be some adjusting to a new home/City/team but he seems like he takes things in his stride from what I've seen of him (thinking of his early domestic and international appearances here).

The new SAS - Silva Aguero Sterling

I'm happy with this now that it's all done. The fee and wages make no difference to me as a fan, I just want to see City signing quality players and winning trophies. The team is in bad need of a regeneration age wise, and there's a homegrown quota to meet, so this ticks the big boxes. I remember the buzz of watching SWP at the same age, Sterling could be even better.

Hopefully he gets a run out against Madrid next week when I'm in Melbourne.

Agree, cuts the figure of someone who is only really comfortable with a ball at his feet, not built for interviews and the like. Clearly doesn't like being the centre of attention.

The anti-Danny Mills. What's that old saying? Better say nothing and let people think you're an idiot than to open your mouth and let everyone know you're Danny Mills.

Crikey, please lay off the poor guy and cut him some slack.

He's a genuine City fan and entitled to his opinions and to express them on here, whether you agree with them, or like them or not.

Heavens above, it's not as if he's someone masquerading as a City fan, as we've had in the past (Antmcfc for example ??) and coming on here to wind people up just because he gets some moronically neanderthal fulfillment out of it.

Anyway, I quite like reading some of the things he posts, so he does add some variety to proceedings and it just seems wrong to castigate him in such a fashion.

Just cut him some slack.

Because the reporting throughout this saga has been very accurate hasn't it?

So here's a comparison:

Van Persie, largely considered a roaring success at United, won them a league single handed apparently, played a total of 83 games, costing them £25m + around £12m per season for 3 years. They have recouped £5m, so the total cost per game is £56m / 83 = £670,000 per game

Sterling on the other hand, let's call it £49m plus £100k a week basic wage. So after 3 years, he will have cost us £65m. If he plays 100 games in that time, that's less per game than van Persie. If we sold him, it would still be for £20m + making him around half he cost of van persie

But here's the kicker..... we will still have a 23 year old England international worth x amount as a sell on, and who likely will go on to play a couple of hundred games as a minimum for the club, and even in 7 or 8 years will STILL have a sell on fee and an average cost per game far far far lower than most players who we have EVER signed since we were taken over.

See the media spin of all this is fucking ridiculous, and stupid cunts like you are falling for it hook line and sinker and perpetuating these stupid fucking myths that we are ruining the game and distorting the market, when in fact, it's signings like van Persie that are far less sustainable and represent massive losses to the clubs involved

This ^

And you have a better example in Wio. Rags paid over £30M for a player that was seen as an insane fee at the time but they got 11 seasons out of him.
