Are we trying to prove something here, that our academy is filled with local homegrown talent?

Funny old game. I thought Yaya was head and shoulders above everybody and Nasri largely anonymous and disinterested. Sweet strike though.

Me too! Thought he looked lazy and disntereded until the end. I thought a 16 year old Garcia over shadowed him in the first half.

I thought all our young lads looked good, felt for Barker but as soon as he got wide you could see his danger.

Surprised by the Nasri criticism. I thought he was good. Faffed a bit, as ever, but in general i thought he had a decent game. Both Yaya and Kompany looked an awful lot fresher than they have for a long time too. Yaya notably, he just looked sharper and a bit quicker.

In general i thought the kids had good games. Garcia was brilliant I thought. Astonishingly accomplished for a 17 year old. Tough too. Reminded me of Verratti actually, the PSG man. Maffeo had a good game too and Humphreys, considering he's 16 was just so, so composed. Such a prospect. Remember watching people like Boyata, Nedum and Savic panicking and looking terrified for us? Despite all being much older than he was? He's as cool as they come.

Barker was wasted up top, but when he found himself on the left he showed what he's capable of. Loved that bit where he turned his defender inside out, finding nasri who just dallied about before getting tackled. Play him on the left and he will do that. He'll beat his man and he'll shoot, and he'll probably score too.

Cheers, twosips. I missed the first 30 min or so, but thought Nasri had a decent game as far as pre-season goes. Yaya & Kompany looked very sharp, which is encouraging. Hard to believe that Humphreys is 16! I was also impressed by Garcia and Barker (on the left). Good stuff.

Here's the goal for those interested:

Had a cracking time at the game. Got to see Yaya and he nearly scored a brilliant free kick. Healthy dose of 1st team players and a chance to see youngster I never see otherwise. Thought the rB and cb were both pretty good. Willy bit dodgy in goal and Nasri looks like he's eaten silva. Bit of a sore head this morning though.
