It does not help anyone that we look like we are waiting for Vinny, to get fit, which is the problem, he is never fit. Mangala either improves or will be gone. otter needs a a partner with pace and reads the game , Mangala is an athlete, but does not see danger, and has a mistake in him, we also need a De Jong type of player to glue the middle of the pitch, we are wide open there and out wide, when we lose the ball.

I don't think anyone saw MDM's rapid decline coming considering how well he's done for us in the past. Mangala's early season form kept him here(he was supposed to be a part exchange loan for Otamendi) and now he's stuttering we really are suffering at the back. Long term I think Otter and Mangala are the way forward. But neither is VK and we really need him to hold their hand through their settling period into this league. It's really all about leadership and whilst Joe and Yaya are able deputies, neither is a patch on Vinnie. If he comes back and stays fit, the lineup will settle with Otter as 1st choice, Mangala as 2nd and next season, Denayer as a rotational choice.

As people have stated in other threads, a two man midfield containing Yaya will offer next to no cover at the back. It's unreasonable to assume Fernando, Delph or Fernandinho can cover that much of the pitch by themselves and there is literally no formation where we can protect the back four when Pellegrini has decided that our fullbacks are wingers who come back to defend when they've got time.

I saw his rapid decline coming which is why Bayern got rid of him.

Getting MDM was a waste of time, everyone knows
that over the age of 30 your reactions are slower , you lose speed.

Vince was injury plagued at Hamburg which is why we got him so cheaply. As a midfielder he has adapted very well to the role of centre back.

He's an intelligent guy and a good captain, but an average defender who is always injured.

Vince needs replacing. We should have a back four and keep them in as long as possible. We don't have stability anymore.

This season he has been poor, yes. But overall no. He was very good last season when needed. Can we define signing him as a waste of time? No.

You've certainly got friends in high places.

He was a great signing but he's over the top now

There I was thinking he left Bayern due to a falling out with the Tactical Turtle.

Nope , he was worth the signing on fee but should have been sold in the summer.

It's all too easy to criticize in hindsight.

Well i don't mean to be clever, but years ago we used to end up with has beens from other top clubs.

Top teams only get rid of players they don't want anymore ,Unfortunately the game has changed a little and City were caught in the catch
up process in these modern times and had to commit to long contracts to get any players needed to get where we are today. So
those players new this. Aren't we still coughing up a little for Adebayor for example. ?

players that Scouse 2 , Rags , other no longer needed.

Now the tables have reversed and the rags are buying players like Schweini, who managed to get himself sent off so he can keep with tradition an have his winter break this week. Bayern were more than happy to pick up lots of Dosh for him going on 30. completely the wrong type of player (age wise) to be buying in a top league ( if you want to win it)

LOL MDM was our best CB last season. He shat on Vinnie. Hence he stayed.

I thought at the back end of last season MDM's decline was beginning. Mangala was our best centre back for the final third of last season, constantly sweeping up behind Martin when he got caught for pace.

That couldn't be good for team spirit or morale, camaraderie etc.

He was, his cameos do not help him, as I think he needs a few games to get going. Sadly he is going out how he started, looking like he is finished, Nobody wants to see a player exposed as he is, but that is how we play.
