Man Of The Match v Watford

Postby Beefymcfc » Sat Jan 02, 2016 8:42 pm

Bit late but after a 10 hour drive back to a wet and cold Germany, only getting the second half in, and sorting my shit out, it's the earliest I could do it. Maybe somebody could 'Take a Bow', as they say.

Anyway, from what I saw, we looked good and bad in both parts but were unlucky to go behind. Our 2 goals though, fuck me, I danced a jig OD would be proud of.

Mine would be Fernandinho for his efforts all over the pitch. He lost the ball, he got it back. He played forward, he played back, he played all over the field. Such an intelligent player he could take over the Yaya roll for me.

A full 90 though, I couldn't say.

I was half and half, just because of that cross. But then it was Aguero for that Harry Potter style levitation. Who knows, but .....

Sublime.

Brilliant tactical late late substitution from Pellegrini taking a cb off and putting another striker on changed everything . Sagna very good again and superb cross for Aguero , Yaya brilliant goal again , KDB get going forward all game with some great crosses , one fabulous save from Joe Hart but my goes to Aguero , looked much sharper and what a finish to win the game !!! He,s back !!!

ps voted for Aguero but somehow it says I voted for Bony ffs ??? lol
Not really here

Sagna was easily our best defender which isn't saying much. He also made a great run and cross for the winner. Still I gave it to Fernandinho simply superb. He may misplaced a pass or two but he never stopped running and was immense all over the pitch. He's really lived up to his transfer fee this season.

I'd give it to Fern. Sagna was good also.
But id like to also mention that I think that the whole dynamic changes when Navas comes on for us.
The speed of break increases and we start to worry defences.
A very under rated player and under appreciated by many.

Totally agree with this. Can be very direct, but also play the possession game when needed. Truly underrated.

Hart- 8 - important stops
Sagna- 6 - best game since he joined us
Kolo- 7 - good bad and ugly
Otamendi- 7- Covering for Mangala has inhibited his game
Mangela- 4 - A plough horse
KDB -8- kept showing even when things were getting tough
Yaya- 4 - goal aside - he was crap
Silva- 7- playing too far out to be effective in recent matches
Fer- 8- real character today
Kun- 7 - fighting back to fitness- what a goal though
Sterling 4- no first touch , doesnt grab a game by the neck

Subs:
Navas 7- busy, energy and will to receive the ball
Bony- 0- too slow for premiership level, no first touch

Bony.

I think when he came on the Watford players were in amazement at how shit he is and how he's somehow conned his way into playing for us, that they weren't concentrating for our 2 goals.

Fernandinho who provided much needed industry against a tough Watford side, although it was a quality cross from Sagna for the winner and who very rarely has put a foot wrong in Zaba's lengthy absence.

Could have chosen 4 or so. Gave it to Aguero for the winning goal and I worry that MOTM is a defender too often in this run of poor form
