Why don't we recall Denayer

Why don't we recall Denayer

Postby Wonderwall » Tue Jan 12, 2016 2:59 pm

I see that Liverpool have recalled about 5 players from loans. Some season long loans too. Why are we not bringing Denayer back? So what if we have to pay money to do it. We got an initial £300k for loaning him, just give it back, as we need him.

Kompany still has no return date and we are short of quality at the back. He cannot be worse than Mangala or MDM.

an act of hubris sending him out in the first place. Fucking ridiculous.

I kind of agreed with it at the time as we bought Otter and MDM was in an extended year. It would be good for him to get game time, however, as our CB'S have turned into the keystone cops, it makes sense to bring him back and get him involved as captain fantastic is hardly any use without a return date.

He won't be available for the Champions League. But could feature in the other 3 comps. 1 being a final I HOPE

He looked pretty nifty in pre season. He may not be pulling up trees in Turkey, but that's not the be all and end all.
We won't know how good he is until he gets a run in the side... he's got some useful experience behind him now.

Yeah, I'd have him back.

Galatasaray have paid a loan fee and they will use him more than we will intend to do. On top of that he has only returned from a lengthy injury so it would be pointless in a recall.

Played the full 90 mins at the weekend in a 3 - 1 win. Give them the 300k loan fee back. It's peanuts when we are still in 4 comps with Larry, Mo and Curly at the back.

Can't play in the Champions League which is one of our priorities. We could of hijacked Liverpool's deal for Caulker.......

There has to be an agreement to recall, which I believe may not be possible if there is a loan fee involved.

I think you can only recall if you're left with no one in that particular position...some clause along those lines exist, I believe.

Clearly because all the coaches and executives at the club know absolutely nothing about football players.or our youth players.

We know far, far more.

Be really interesting to revisit this in 3 years.

so basically you're hanging your ass out there and saying he won't or can't cut it, they know it and they've moved on from him already without even giving him a reasonable chance to show what he can do with first teamers around him? So he's worse than Boyata, Savic, Nastacic in that he doesn't even rate a shot? Interesting indeed from what i've seen and heard so far about him.

I hope you're wrong, but it'll be interesting to revisit this in 3 years.

cheers

Not gonna happen. Perhaps the centre halves could give the midfield, ie Yaya, a bollocking about the lack of protection from them. Wouldn't hurt to include KDB and Silva in that as well. I don't think our defence is as bad as is being made out, just a tweaking here or there will do

I'm not sure what was going on with Nastasic but he looked a better player than MDM and Mangala to me. I think Denayor is a better bet too.

Nastasic is terrible. Mangler far better and MDM has been quality up until this season and a few weeks at the start!

I agree about daft Martin. He does have quality though his legs are going now. He may improve with a run of games. But, was Nasti that bad? It seemed to take a long time for that conclusion to be made. For the first 80% of his time with us, I thought he was good for his age. They liked him in Germany too until his bad injury.

Because he is shit.

Sadly, in Romania you can see Galatasaray on tv because there are a turks that live here and I saw 13 from 17 games. He was dreadful, calamity and so on.

The kid has no soul in him, no desire to prove anything. It would be a huge mistake to have him back.

Pretty damning that Peter. I've always thought he was a good footballer, but you've seen a lot more of him than I this season, so I bow to your superior knowledge. I'm just surprised by them.

It will be good for our back line if only from a complacency/competition perspective - if we get him back this window, watch how quickly the others up their game; it has been the case often with players returning from injury.
