Lot of talk that the scum are in talks with Mourinho. I'll be very surprised if he doesn't take over at the swamp next season. After the announcement of Pep's appointment Giggs chances were surely gone.

I like it. It reminds me of boozing in The Denmark before games at Maine Road.

Silva may actually be a problem for Guardiola, though not for the reason Murphy suggests.

Guardiola's system of players holding a position and waiting for the ball will not work well with Merlin as he roams the pitch seeking space, particularly when he nominally starts in a wide position. Does he accommodate him in the centre or make him stay wide?

it's a legit question.

I'm sure by now we've all see Terry Henry's breakdown of how Pep let them play. i would love to see some Silva heatmaps in the middle third of the pitch to know how much of a challenge what Henry described will be for el Magico.

Nasri certainly won't have a problem with keeping his chunky lesbian ass in one space and waiting for something to happen.

Delph, and Fern will flourish with Pep. In fact, Delph could turn into a little Pepito and boss the whole fucking show. English Iniesta. No joke. He's a million percent more suited to Pep than Yaya, obvs. Can't wait to see this happen.

How does it feel Soccs to finally get the last puzzle piece of your "English Barcelona" in place?

cheers

I'm surprisingly pensive but generally optimistic. My English Barca dream is already largely in place, but the English bit is still important. I want to see us as the English equivalent rather than an attempt at a carbon copy. The huge academy investment is more important to that dream than having people that worked at Barca.

I 100% agree that Delph and Fernandinho will flourish, the week in week out challenge of the Prem is way more taxing than Spain or Germany and players that have the energy to get box to box will be vital if Pep is to tweak his system successfully to adapt to our weekly grind.

I hope he will understand the value of keeping the existing fabric of the club intact too. Players that have some real feeling for the club like Zabaleta, Kompany, Hart - they will be important too. Also Silva and Aguero are part of that in their own quieter ways. It's not clear to me that Silva will flourish though, I take Carl's point about Messi roaming but he plays as a striker so can play "spare." Silva will only flourish if allowed to be a roaming number 10 as Pep likes his wide players to stay wide rather than to roam. I fear he will be blunted or even marginalised. I hope Pep will find a way to make that work. Going to be another fun ride but am still enjoying the current one too :)
