They must be. I can see Gundo making 3 assists in one game soon
To be fair he was playing for Dortmund who are absolutely shite.

Assists don't take buildup play into account - or vision. He has amazing vision (based on just that one match I admit), and apparently he claims he's only 80 percent match fit.

The position he plays on the pitch means he tends to assist the guy who assists the scorer, as well as rotating the ball (crucial for Pep) and superb defensive duties.

Yes, assist stats are useful but also misleading. If you are a midfielder who threads the ball through to Bradbury or Bogbrush ten times you might get three assists; do the same to Sergio or Messi and get seven.

My understanding of an Assist is that a goal was actually scored. Otherwise it is a completed pass.

In other words if you pass to someone who assists the scorer you don't get credit for it, even though you might have created the move that led to the goal (actively involved in the buildup).

It's a fucking star for attacking midfielders and fullbacks. You cannot compare players at striker or central mid and think it means anything.
No decent striker wants a fucking assist.
Cheers

well if we string 45 passes together and score who gets the assist credit ?

Lovely finish for his goal. Reminded me of Lampard with his run into the penalty box to get in a forward goalscoring position. It happened a couple of times on Wednesday as well. Good times ahead for him i reckon

Gutted for the lad. He's taken his time but started to show some good stuff, if still a bit patchy. I've been calling him silkay here too cos his feet can be quite neat when he skips by a defender. Just saying.
Tracking back is overrated.

Very bad news, fingers crossed its not the 'long time' injury Pep referred to.
Glad YAYA played very well last night because we will need him at the same level next weekend.

Same knee he dislocated in May unfortunately. In previous games for us I got the impression he wasn't confident with it.

Yes, agreed. Something seemed to be holding him back because he's better than what he has shown for us so far. He's been good in bits but also mediocre in some games.

if he is out for the season, i'd be tempted to go after ross barkley in the window. the £20/25m spurs are supposedly willing to pay for him is nothing.
i think he could add the drive / energy to the middle of the park that we're missing at the moment.

Everton season ticket holder I work with reckons he has gone backwards and needs to leave now whilst they can get a decent price for him. Constantly making wrong decisions and holding on to the ball when he should be passing. Attitude issues as well apparently. He can be decent though but is he a pep player?
