Pep's Candid Interview

Maybe this is posted in one of the 10000 other Pep threads, yet...

So much to digest in this Henry interview...whoa.

What is it he is saying is not allowed with regards to high pressing?

Points about the ball being played in the air constantly more vs. on the ground in England is clearly not just an observation...

Hear him...he is adapting...and thinking.

He challenges those who ask him to "change" quite well, as someone who adapts but does not abandon his true beliefs.

The point about "time conceded" I am trying to figure out what he meant...saying there is more in the PL than elsewhere. Is that a reference to added time?

Thought: Why have PL top clubs, outside of Chelsea's odd recent run, and ours last season not won or gone far in the CL?

I know quite a a few of us believe it's primarily about an "agenda," yet has anything else changed from when PL clubs won or went much farther more regularly that might also be contributing? Has the evolution of the game led to traditional English style of football struggle, continentally, compared within its own leagues, and is this partially why he wanted to come here? Win within, and elsewhere.

"I'm not here to make fantastic football. I'm here to win the games."

He ought to prioritise making me look forward to match days again. At the moment I'm dreading them!

Interesting interview. Difficult to follow in parts though.

What is it he is saying is not allowed with regards to high pressing?

Could mean that the other teams don't play on the ground so high pressing doesn't work when they just kick the ball out high to start an attack.

Re English teams not doing well in CL recently - maybe because a hybid English-continental approach doesn't work with the mix of English and foreign players available? It'll be interesting to see how Leicester get on playing the English way in the knockout stage.

Conte has figured out english football quite well.
Pep started well then complicated matters too much too soon.

Conte's relying on individual quality to win him games. Keep it tight and hopefully one of your star turns does something, can't knock it, it's working for him.

Simple one . Pep has soon discovered his "Barca" style wont work every week in the PL as the "tempo" and "physicality" in the PL is like no other league he has managed in . I also think he has under estimated how good the PL really is .
Not really here

I agree with this, it will be interesting to see how he deals with a runs of 3 or 4 bag games. They haent had the injury problems yet to cope with, we have made this harder for ourselves as we seem to love buying players that are carrying an injury.
We have been unlucky where chances to kill teams off have been missed or stupid individual mistakes at the back but all in all I genuinely believe the team has a much better direction now say compared to the last 3 seasons and with time actually believenit will get better, much better.

Thanks for posting that, Prezlke. I think he's referring to both the fact that hardly anyone plays it out from the back over here and the extent of injury time we have here.

See how they go without Costa or Kante. It would be a very different story

They have a deep bench, Anthony Taylor will make up the difference.

On the OS I think he is not used to a half empty stadium at the Final whistle" I hope how fans can be with us until the end of the games in the future.

Bournemouth

Assume it's at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea's last two games have been away. Bournemouth at home is not exactly the most challenging of games. Chances are that some of their players might have been rested anyway. Like to see them without them for a good month or so to see how they cope. The back up forward, Batshuayi, hasn't doesn't anything to suggest he is either worth £35m or be capable of deputising for Costa
