Yep a 2 nil defeat against a Liverpool team unrecognisable from the one we beat 7 nil in the league earler in the season and even 3.1 in the youth cup. I reckon most of that might go down to Stevie G who now looks after the 18's and whose stamp was all over the way they played.

First thing about the game for me was that Liverpool were not a bigger team than City which is so so unusual. The pitch was maybe a bit grassy and balls didn't travel over it too well .There was no zip about it at all.Pool came out of the traps with real aggression and their centre forward for me could have been sent off in the first 5 minutes.Initially he clattered into the keeper long afyer he had collected the ball. As Muric is a big lad it didn't seem much.

Then running across the field he ran pasy Pozo and elbowed him nothing seen by the ref. It sort of set the tone though and they were flying into challenges which made it very difficult. The one on Luke Shaw later was considered a booking ( Surman I think) which means Liverpool could have had maybe 5 booked for similar tackles which mostly weren't even given as fouls.

We lost though because we missed our chances and they didn't miss theirs. The first goal was a hopeful cross which Joe Covenay got to but only with a flick which went straight to their guy who volleyed in. Second goal was us messing around in tne middle with Muric very high up. He gave an awkward pass to Francis who missplaced his pass and it was 4 against 2 and a goal.

Our chances mostly fell to Phil Foden and a couple looked gilt edged but somehow the ball got under his feet and the shots were squeezed into the ground giving the keeper every chance to save the shots.

Strange how teams fall short after the league win is done and dusted. It cant have helped that we were missing 3 top regulars but still we dominated most of the match after the first 25 minutes and should not have lost.

Thanks for the report Doug. Much appreciated. Just wondering how much of the game you missed whilst you flew over to OT?

Thanks for your latest reports Mr H.....indeed, everyone single one is greatly appreciated by all on this forum, I'm sure.

Just a passing thought but have you ever considered putting all your reports together into a sort of season long 'year book' and getting them published in some format. You could call it something like 'Doug's Annual' and it could be fascinating and almost obligatory reading for all City fans.

Anyway Mr H, thanks again.

Don't believe a word he says MC, he's got a dossier on everybody and a very thick one on you. They've got his room ready at the Ecuador embassy for when he spills the stuff on the internet.

Thanks for the good and timely advice JC.

I didn't realise Mr H was such a deep and cunning agent of fortune so I'd better watch my step henceforth.

Two brilliant individual goals by Diaz and Foden. Then great work by Bolton to rob the fullback and send in an inch perfect cross for an easy finish for Nmecha.

3-0. A very good 45 minutes work.

Put the tie to bed tonight.
