Twitterings that Jezzer Boateng is pining for Pep but presumably not for more of those training ground fisticuffs he enjoyed with his team mates.

I hope its true..as long as we get a good deal

I would take Mangala back, no worse than otter and probably better, but Pep wont go there....

I've watched Mangala a few times this season because I like the lad. A good pro who wants to do well but he has ranged from average to appalling. He still looks clumsy and lacks positional sense.

Fuck me that's on hell of sick record! But at 28 i suspect he's too old, the only over 25's (or even possibly 23) we should be considering are those who would generate shirt sales ala Messi

i am doing my level best to ignore all transfer rumours until the end of June as 99.999999% of what is being muted about currently is all bollox made up shit by agents making noises for their pockets clients. Only those that have an ounce of truth about them will of players going out of contract IMO

You're probably right in the overall scheme of things CTID but, although I don't suppose he'd generate much in shirt sales, I wouldn't mind having Bonucci in our defence, albeit for just a few years

I was very much for him coming last summer (or was it the one before) when we were heavily linked with him and i believe he turned us down and his price will only go up IF they manage to beat RM

I think we should look to bring in Defoe as a 4th choice striker. Free transfer, fills up the English quota, he'd have a real chance of winning stuff before he hangs up his boots and would give it his all.

I also think he'd convert a lot with the amount of chances we create.

Gosh how good was the summer window in 2010/2011?

Silva, Balotelli, Yaya, Milner, and Boateng. 3 of those turned into amazing players.

First of all I thought this was bonkers. But he sure doesn't need many chances to score a goal. And, to be fair, it's the sort of thing Taggart would have done. Both him and Pep know it's all wasted if no cunt will put the ball in the net

The hardest thing in football is to score goals and score them consistently. Defoe does it, of that there's no question. But he really does fuck all else. As it goes, I don't mind that in a forward, as long as he is scoring I couldn't care less what tackles he does or doesn't make tracking back. But I'm not the manager and our manager likes all his players, forwards included, to put a shift in.

Also, as an out and out scorer, is Defoe better than Iheanacho? Iheanacho's minute per goal ratio and his shots per goal ratio suggest not.

So it's a no from me

Defoe's got another season in him, he's a natural finisher, Prem proven, probably would be ok with being third choice, always seems to give everything on the pitch - and English as a bonus. Even if we just use him in cups or 'low risk' league games (if we even have any of those any more) it might be worth it. Could be another Lampard sort of (in terms of old player having a swan song contribution).

Like John's mentioned, old whisky nose did this for years and it paid off. I'd have Defoe no questions. No doubt he'll bring in some Spanish fuck from the 3rd division though because he's mates with his brother.

I'm concerned about the form, quality and injury record of many of the players we are being linked to, Badstuber, Valdez, Coman, Boateng etc.
We seem to be getting rid of good quality players, (Hart, Zab, Yaya and even Caballero), and replacing with lesser quality.
