I'd prefer him in central midfield, although wasn't it mentioned he started out as a right back ??

Would he be happy to come to us, just to play at full back ??

From TransferMarkt:

Main position :
Defensive Midfield

Side position:
Right-Back

Thanks CTID.

On that basis, he'd be very useful and really good signing.

We don't have stereotypical full backs with pep which would suit him perfectly.

Bear in mind our inverted fullbacks have been playing like midfielders for large parts of the season. (and Pep looked to a midfielder - Fern 1 - at rightback when our ageing options weren't quite up to it, from his point of view).

Celtic are having a laugh if they think their derisory offer is even in the realm of Roberts's worth.

If we do get Fabinho and he replaces Toure i wonder where that puts Gundogan. Surely itd be Fabinho behind a front 5 of Sane, Silva, KDB, Aguero/Jesus, Jesus/Sterling. Although i guess Ilkay needs to be fit first for it to even be addressed

Sounds like for a transfer. 6.8 rising to 8 plus a 25% sell on clause.

So they want to pay us less than what we paid for him? Scruffy pricks.

I wouldn't deal with Celtic on the principle of them employing Rodgers as their manager.

Haha. Kyle feckin Walker!

Trippier wasn't good enough for us, so we're going to spend a fortune on someone who's rapidly becoming his stand in.

I'd rather have Trippier. I think he is a better footballer than Walker - for me the only thing Walker has over Trippier is pace, however, Trippier's crossing and overall play is much better and he seems to be a much more intelligent footballer

My view as well, hence the sarky post.

Trippier is just not available anyway, if we wanted him, but I'm not certain he'd be Pep's choice anyway.

Crossing does not seem to be as big of a thing for fullbacks/wingbacks in Pep's system. We don't have a big striker to head said balls, and how many of those low crosses by Navas have been ticket's to nowhere since he's arrived. I don't think it's just his fault, it's also because of our lack of height. I think that's partially why Pep doesn't prioritise crossing from his fullbacks nor have them generally play so traditionally.

We don't use overlapping runs as we did in the past and it seems Pep likes his fullbacks to use their pace to create space and then be able to make a shorter pass to our attacking players who are ideally then in better positions. Clichy has done this when he plays, compared to our other fullbacks, but his passing has been very inconsistent or poor. Navas has made some crosses since he has played there, but he also seems instructed to bring the ball back inside as well.

Walker has a lot of pace, can dribble and beat his man, and is a good passer, especially with long diagonal balls that Pep wants his defenders to be able to make.
Defensively, he is also very good at interceptions, which is key to Pep's pressing (although I know Spurs do as well), and not too shabby in the air either.

I just meant I'd rather have Trippier, I'm sure Pep has other ideas.
But the main point I was making was, we're far too keen to ship these academy kids out.

From MuEN

City have Benfica keeper 'reserved'

Portuguese media are reporting that City have already got a goalkeeper ‘reserved’ for next season.

Willy Caballero is out of contract in the summer and Claudio Bravo’s performances have been less than convincing so it’s likely that Guardiola will be in for a keeper.

A story from Record via Sport Witness says that Ederson will be the first to leave Benfica in the summer as City have had him ‘reserved’ for a while.

No idea if there is any credence to the original source.. We were heavily linked to him back in March is all I can see

Any of our regular watchers of European league footy wish to comment on him?

Both he and Mee stood out in the 2012 youth team and both went on to establish themselves at Burnley. Trippier was the best bet even back then and you're quite right it was a mistake to sell him without giving him a proper first team chance with us. Like you I just hope we do better with our current crop.
