Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The fact is last season he was overweight and lazy. You cannot argue against that. You look at him this season and there's a huge difference. Opposition players are bouncing off him again and he's putting in the effort.
He's a City legend. I don't know one single fan that would dispute that at all.
Lol. Saying "Fuck sake forgot we got left with this lazy lump!" is not exactly what most people would call giving a club legend the respect they deserve. You can't have his cake and eat it too. But maybe you were being sarcastic, who knows.
And the other huge difference is our manager who demands peak fitness from every player as a requirement for playing. So maybe, just maybe, Pep knows how to get the best out of Yaya.

Let's hope he keeps it up until the end of the season to show he's not just playing in spurts of 'having something to prove'. Because you don't have to look past last season to see what happens when he loses interest.

I don't see how you can deny that there were times when he has been lazy.

I think you have the completely wrong take on this,
"playing in spurts" ?
It was the manager, at the beginning of this season that set the rules for the team. It was the manager that decided not to play him and indeed, through injury and necessity brought him back.
He's hardly been given a chance this season to show us just how lazy he can be.
Yaya has nothing to prove- well actually he did, scoring two goals recently to win the game.
"Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs."

He did nothing going forward but his defensive work against the dippers was immense. I can't recall seeing him work so hard defensively. Great to see.
Attack the argument of the person, not the person of the argument- except Carl.

I thought he was poor yesterday but in the absence of Gumdogan he's clearly needed. Interesting to see whether he can manage another game on Monday. Maybe Garcia will play instead.

He wasn't THAT poor compared to most of the team. He wasn't really good either, but Liverpool were set on causing congestion in the middle of the park.
He also showed higher work rate than some of our fans are willing to admit and made a few last gasp tackles that saved us from being destroyed on the counter (including one where he, surprisingly, had the ball taken away from him).

Yaya was everywhere yesterday. Good all round performance making up for the loss of fernandinho. Lots of work rate from yaya. Good to see.

Great performance from Yaya, especially the second half. Good to have the big man back.

Really curious how are things with him.
After the mass exodus from yesterday, we might see Yaya staying. Imho, the club is negociating with him a new contract. I hope he accepts a pay cut and stays.

Him **and his agent!** each donated 50,000 to the Manchester victims. Small change for them but very nice nonetheless

My gut feeling is we've offered him another year if he takes a paycut, so he has to weigh up just how much he meant those kind words he said about us at the end of the season. (and Im very happy to see his representative stay low key in all of this).

For him it would be better to go, I am certain he can get a spectacular contract in China or Qatar.
For us, he needs to stay. When he is up for it he is still spectacular.
My opinion: His agent wants him gone, a new contract, new contract percent for him, Yaya would rather stay because this means he can still play at the highest level and he still likes the spotlight.
