First you have to denounce the Devils and all their evil ways.

Renounce I think, denouncing is too easy

There are so many where he comes from....I'm sure a quick session with WW will exorcise any demons though

Native DENTONIAN. Started supporting in 1958. One of 5 generations of Blues.

Kippax Streeter, knew lots of the lads & had plenty of interesting experiences.

Loved all of Joe Mercers Champions & Cup Winners.

Yaya is the most influential player of HH SM era.

In dispute with a mod on BM ( hope to resolve ). Happy to contribute.

Good choice of exile :D My grandad was a scuttler who was run out of town during Denton wakes in the 1920's after some very nasty bloodletting in the Red Lion on Crown Point (on the right of this photo)

Small world.
My fathers family were tripe merchants and had a shop right at Crown Point opposite the Red Lion.
My mothers family were gents outfitters with a shop just round the corner on Ashton Road.
My family were builders & plumbers merchants wth showrooms on Manchester Road next to the conservative club.
We used to go all over the country on Maynes coaches from Crown Point.

Just had to Google on the term 'scuttler' JC, as I'd never heard of it before.

Absolutely fascinating.

Crown Point/Manchester Road, early 20th century. View looking at the entrance to Manchester Road from outside the Old Red Lion.
Ashton Road (formerly Long Lane) is on the right and Stockport Road is off the picture to the left. The corner of the King's Head is just visible on the left.
Early in the 20th century the corner shop was occupied by James Roach, a fishmonger, but later it became a tripe shop occupied by John Hulme.

Did he get swallowed up by UCP?

My grandfather was John Hulme,it was he & his father that owned and ran the tripe business from Manchester Road,Crown Point.

They also traded from the various markets,Ashton,Hyde,Stockport.

Tripe was a staple for many families of that era & generation.

Among the few places near us where you can still buy tripe and the associated intestinal delicacies are two shops in Cheadle and Edgeley ;)

I suppose nowadays, the main purveyors of tripe are 'Sky Sports News', 'The Sun', 'The Daily Mail' and 'The Mirror' and the likes.
