Robinho to Santos on loan seems nailed on

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I havent dived into this thread until now and it seems despite his performance yesterday he still wants out and to be honest im gutted.

Yes he has had some monumentally disappointing games for us but there are several factors that I think have more than contributed.

The guy exploded on his arrival in this country, 15 goals in 18?? But the away problem had started to become a factor around Christmas last year and fans and in particular the press started to look for a scapegoat for our away day woes. It was scientifically proven that it was in fact all down to Robinho that the team as a collective couldnt perform and in their incredible efforts to only focus on supporting the "uninterested" Robinho lost sight of winning the actual game.

The Christmas inquisition then coincided with the rape allegation and him bunking back to Brazil amid the growing animosity in the press. When he came back he had elevated himself to public enemy number one in our football press and the focus on his every move was intensified. Mark Hughes seemed hell bent on forcing the guy to learn English and with what seemed to be an alarming pattern with certain players upon Marks arrival, players seemed to go backwards under his management style and continued to do so under his leadership right until he was sacked.

I seem to remember Robbie picking up a thigh injury and struggling with fitness for a while and during the Portsmouth game having a shocker, (like the rest of the team) then the dogging, woman beating cunt that is Stan Collymore went to town on him, saying it was the worst performance by a professional footballer he had ever seen in any division (Blatantly forgetting some of his horror showings throughout his career..)

As the scientific facts began to mount up in the press Robinhos performances dipped and it took him an age to score again that season but when he did he hit form again and I remember his masterful performance against the blue dippers, the press then decided that when Robinho can be bothered to play, so does the team. Another scientific fact. You see it is all down to Robinho, every game, if only he had bothered to play in every away game that season, nevermind the other 10 under performing shits on the pitch who couldnt string a pass together, Robinho should of been passing to himself whilst tackling like Maldini and volunteering to be the penalty stopper.

This season he has had a broken ankle and hasnt been fit, The Robinho that Mancini has inherited has repeatedly been told he is shit by our press, by our fans, and you know what, I think he believes it now. Every fan around the country chants "What a waste of money" at him and even after yesterday he is still getting battered by the press and our own fans, who until recently i didnt believe the phrase "you are only happy unless (said player) scores a hatrick and assists at least three." Now I do. Some of the reactions to yesterday have proved that to me, the guy has so much expectation on him to be a talisman every game, and every game that passes without a goal, the pressure intensifies for next time. the focus and spotlight on him must be burning a hole through the shirt on his back at times.

I dont blame him for bailing back home. He needs the comfort and the love again. All I can say is thankyou Robinho. Without you players like Tevez wouldnt have looked twice at us. I will always remember the first goal against Chelsea and that was the start of the new City, lobbing Almunia, tearing Hull, Stoke, Pompey to shreds single handidly and then yesterday. The relief of him signing off with a fucking great goal. His movement yesterday was stunning and thats what we will be missing. See ya Robbie, I appreciated you and thanks for playing at our club and giving me the pleasure of seeing you play.

Seems like it will all be sorted out this Tuesday according to the Mail as Santos speak to City.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... l?ITO=1490

As I've said in the countless other threads on Robinho, if/when he goes I will not be too worried or miss him, which speaks volumes for how much we have improved. Keegan eluded to it on Sunday in the post match. He said Robinho needs lots of games to get his sharpness back but he won't be able to do that at City.

When we lost Anelka I was very worried for the team. I find it strangely reassuring that we can cut loose Robinho and be unharmed.

City are finally bigger than the individuals that play for them!

^ good post. he is a good plaer but he doesnt try. the fact that he wants to fuck off back there says it all too me. lazy and half hearted. such a shame because a foward line that includes the likes of ade, robinho, bellamy, tevez and swp on paper looks incredible.

i will not miss him when he goes.

Life is not all that complicated for a footballer. Turn up, train, play football.

It is made even less complicated if you work hard and have god given talent.

Beyond that, it is all down to attitude - and his attitude to hard work, to gettiing back into form, to learning english, to work out the Premier League APPEARS to fucking stink.

Oh what could have been....

Anyway hey ho we move on - I don't want anyone here who does not want to be here, its an honour to play for city that some people (i.e us) would kill for and treasure for the rest of our days - I'm not saying our players should be like that as after all it is a job to them, but when you would rather be anywhere but here i say let them go.

As for the media attacks getting to him - Do you really think he reads the papers? Watches SSN? Sunday Supplement? He lives in the pro footballer bubble - The fact he still thought Barca would want him shows just how much of a bubble he in lives in.

Well considering he had Laporta publicly speaking about him for months shows that he is still highly regarded there.

If he chooses to go & swan around in a sub standard league rather than test himself against the best then he's letting himself down as much as he's letting us down imo.

I'm still hoping he'll grow some balls & stay but the comment about preferring to go back to Brazil rather than play for Juve suggests he's just not interested in doing anything that requires effort. Very sad if true.

I hope he decides to stay and fight for his place, because it doesn't speak well for his career if he goes back to Brazil now. But, to be honest, I'm not sure he could ever please those who criticize him. I mean, take yesterday. He had a decent enough performance, also assisting Petrov's first goal, and still there was a thread on here asking when he would be subbed, implying he was shit. Then, he scored the goal which secured our win and took any fear of replay (or worse) away, ending a good team move he had also taken part in, but no, he's still criticized. I honestly think he can't do good in some fans eyes anymore, so it may be better if he goes and we start from scratch with someone else.

Oh, by the way, before yesterday I was criticizing him too for this season's performances, especially the latest ones as at first I was giving him time to recover from the injury, however I saw a much better Robinho yesterday, which is why I can't understand who keeps criticizing him, his attitude, etc.

I dont doubt that, and half expected someone to point that out. Tevez has admitted he finds it difficult, which you have to respect to a degree.

Didn't he just say something to the extent of: 'I can't be arsed cos England is a bit shit so I don't see any reason to learn the language'.
Which is fair enough, I wouldn't learn Spanish if I was just there to fill my pockets for a few years chasing a ball.

I think the only thing which seems fairly certain here is that City are meeting Santos tomorrow in London, according to several reports.

However there is a million miles between the 2 financial (and ideological) positions, and any agreement would be far from certain. Unless City are feeling exceedingly generous. Maybe a loan until the end of season is the only option?

I've a feeling Neymar is going to have a big impact on whether this deal happens or not.

City want something out of this, santos don't have the money needed, but they do have a hell of an asset in neymar.

Why do we want 1st option on 'the new Robinho' if we're fucking off the original one back to Brazil 'cos he can't get in the team?

Update

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -loan.html

Robinho '90 per cent certain' of leaving Manchester City to join Santos on loan

Manchester City forward Robinho believes his return to Santos is "90 per cent certain" to go through in the next few days.

By Telegraph staff and agencies
Published: 1:36PM GMT 25 Jan 2010

The Brazil international has been unhappy to find himself on the bench in recent matches and yesterday admitted he could have played his last match for Manchester City as he seeks more playing time with the World Cup around the corner.

And Robinho, who scored in Sunday's 4-2 FA Cup win at Scunthorpe, is now even more confident that he will be going back on loan to Santos following meetings last night between his agent, City and representatives of the Brazilian club.

"Santos want a year, but City want just six months. It's 90 per cent certain. In two or three days it should be sealed."

Reports suggest Robinho, who joined City in a £32.5 million move in 2008, is set to take a pay cut to move back to Santos, with the Premier League club also continuing to pay part of his wages.

The 25-year-old progressed through the ranks at Santos and played over 100 matches for the Brazilian outfit before leaving to join Real Madrid in 2005.

Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro has also revealed that the deal struck with City could allow the Premier League club first refusal on talented youngsters Paulo Henrique Ganso and Neymar.

He said: "They want the first choice to buy the two boys.

"That does not bother us because we sell the players for the best offer. If City have the conditions to match the offer, they can have the players."

a real shame it has not worked out with Robbie, however, i would be amazed if we let him go without having an appropriate signing lined up to replace him. And by appropriate, I mean a marquee signing.
