fucking terrible
we should have 3 times the number of goals we've already scored this season with the good chances we've created

Game like this are frustrating. But overall.... Come on leave it for the match thread. We're not doing that badly

it's not just this game though
for all the goals we've scored this season we've missed a bucket load of gilt edged ones as well.
we will only beat ourselves this season...

If were as bad as you say Nidge, would we not draw 0-0 with ourselves.

Just watched the highlights and I’ve got to say there were a lot of shots dragged wide which should have at least hit the target.

I’m hoping if Sanchez comes in he’ll put some pressure on certain people to pick up their game.

Terry Venables is quoted as saying that for every goal scored you need to create 10 chances.

Sometimes you're hot, sometimes you're not.

The only time you need to be truly concerned is when the chances aren't coming.

How we doing compared to the rest?

It's got to be a lot harder to score when so many teams park the bus but when you're average is 3 goals per game then there can't be any complaint, especially when they're (on average) 3 to 1 in our favour.

A different sphere these days from the Arsenal squad, all teams played football back then as the money wasn't such a difference between 1st and 2nd Division.

I just went fishing and found this:

https://talksport.com/football/premier- ... 62667?p=19

It shows that our ratio is the best with just short of a goal every 5 shots. This was compiled in mid November though. I suspect it will have gone down since then.

Yep this suggests that just under 10% is the average.

That's a lot of failure in the hunt for success.

So if we were 5th in the league, not scoring a massive amount but making loads of chances we shouldn’t be worried?!

those stats are interesting but it really depends on what they consider a "chance". does a shot from 35 yds count? is every corner kick a "chance"? with us, we tend to create - and miss - a lot more golden chances from inside the box than other teams. those are the ones that frustrate, particularly when they fall to one of our strikers or wingers who should be putting them away.
