I think only the players involved in the final go up to collect the trophy. Never realised this before, but Pellers didn't go up to collect it in 2016 either (just watched the presentation video of this - I don't know if it's always been this way).
Edit: Just checked, and Tony Book didn't go up to collect the trophy in 1976 either, so maybe it's always been this way.
