‘A’ Double

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

‘A’ Double

Postby Mase » Sat Apr 07, 2018 9:43 pm

For all the great football we’ve played this season, will the double be enough?

We won it in Pellers first season. So the football has been better this season than that year. But ultimately all that will be mentioned is the amount of trophies we’ve won. That’s 2. For such an ‘outstanding’ manager and one of the best teams in Europe this season - is the same as what Pellers won enough?

Completely different scenarios. Pelligrini did it with an established team.
Pep has done it while rebuilding.
Next season we will be even better.

There is no comparisom.

With what you’ve said, we could say Pellers did it spending no where near what Pep has.

Pep is supposed to be the best in the world, no?

Two trophies - it’s the same. Don’t make pathetic excuses.

Does me. Plus the football we've been seeing. Still aslight chance in the CL as well.

There's only so !uch you can win and being beaten by the Rags isn't part of their trophy cabinet, just bragging rights.

Expectation has got to some.

At the end of the season when we have two pots on the sideboard and have been the most dominant team in the domestic campaign for years, then yes, I will be satisfied. It could've been better, of course it could, but we have been so much better than our rivals.

Next year promises much of the same. And if we win two pots next year, one of which is the PL, I'll be happy again

Manuel Pellegrini and his achievements are being underrated at best, denigrated at worst, and that is very sad indeed.

Yes, I will be happy with two trophies this season. How the fuck can you not be when your team has shat all over the rest of the division?

if you'd asked at the start of the season, it would have been great. From where we were two weeks ago, it would be a disappointment.

But as disappointments go, it would not be too sore.

Of course, we still have to actually win the league not go to rat shit......

I’d rather premier league teams weren’t even in that cup mate

If we do the double I will be a happy man. Happy as fuck. Just need to get the last week out of my system which will take a while. Feel pretty devastated at the moment but I remember the days when I felt like this for months every season.

Fair enough mate. I’m not too fussed about the champions league - I think it’s the most corrupt competition on the planet.

I for one would be more than happy with a double of premier league and league cup. It will be a fantastic achievement.

Agree re your comment about pathetic excuses what the fuck was all that about? Both pep and pellers will have completed the same double with new and existing players. If you are going to look at differences then pellers achieved in his first season and pep in his second but it makes fuck all difference to me, the fact that we are talking about this level of success is something special and something i only used to dream of.

This is a far better team than Mancini’s or Pellegrini’s. We’ve dominated the Premier League this season with brilliant attractive football. A couple of sickening losses doesn’t change that.

Exactly. So why have we only won the same as Pellers?! That’s my point!!

Winning the league is the most important trophy IMO , not arsed about the fake Champions League , the old European Cup is the marker and will always be for me.

So it will be classed as a good season and what we deserve , not withstanding the events of yesterday.

Because quality will always tell in the league, but in the cups luck and officials can make or break.

I’m not sure what you mean by the same. We’re winning the League by much more than he did. The main criticism would be our dreadful failure against Liverpool in the first CL leg which I agree is a blot on Pep’s copy book. It shows we have to improve next season, perhaps in our mentality occasionally. For me as someone who can only go occasionally my trips to the Etihad have generally been a delight. The only poor match I saw was the CL fixture against the Swiss which featured our second 11. Even against Everton the team fought back bravely in the second half against the rank injustice of Walker’s sending off. Thanks Pep and the team. It’s been a pleasure to follow you.
