ITS BACK Lawro & DC Predictions v Arsenal (A)

Postby Wonderwall » Fri Aug 10, 2018 9:06 am

Welcome back to the weekly thread where we are given amazing insight into the world of Lawro and Mersons fantastic football knowledge and super predictions.
Lawro never predicted Liverpool to lose a game last season, so I cant see him being any different this time around, he may even go for the full 100% points tally!

Lawros final table for top 6 last season was:
1 Man City 99 points and 1 defeat
2 Man Utd 97 points and 1 defeat
3 Tottenham 97 points and 1 defeat
4 Liverpool 84 points and 0 defeats
5 Chelsea 81 points and 5 defeats
6 Arsenal 68 points and 6 defeats

So lets see what the masterminds have to say about the season opener.

Lawros first guest for the 2018-19 campaign is actor and Spurs fan Joe Thomas from the inbetweeners.

Lawro says

What a game this is to start the season for both teams.

New Arsenal manager Unai Emery might not have made any really big stand-out signings, but, with the players he has brought in, I think he has addressed the fact that they have been weak defensively through the middle of midfield and at the back.

But while Emery might not work out his best team for a few weeks, we know all about City - who looked very smooth in their win over Chelsea in the Community Shield last weekend.

City should win this game too, but Emery deserves time to work things out and by that I mean longer than the first few weeks of the season when his side also play Chelsea (away), West Ham (home) and Cardiff (away).

When a manager leaves after being at a club for more than 20 years, like Arsene Wenger was, there is always going to be a lot of change going on and we should leave Emery alone to get on with it.

Lawro's prediction: 0-2
Joe's prediction: Well, I think Arsenal will score - but so will City. What a game this could be. 2-3

Merson says

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/ ... v-man-city

If you had asked me last Saturday I'd have fancied Arsenal, but City were outstanding last weekend against Chelsea. I feel with the new manager, there will be a plan this time from Arsenal, whereas last year they got absolutely rinsed.

But I think City will have too much for them. With these Arsenal players on the training ground, you've got to make drills monotonous to really ram home the message, but I don't think they've had the time yet.

PAUL PREDICTS: 1-3

So thats the widsom for the opening game, I will happily take the Lawro 2-0, some things never change eh!

WW, you could just change the teams and keep posting the same content every week as these to planks don't deviate from their scripts. Ever.

Think he has had the dippers unbeaten for two years now. But it’s reassuring to see a Lawro 2-0. Would take that 100%

A Lawro 2-0, now it really is starting to feel like the season is starting. Any of those predicted results will be just fine.

I gave up reading Lawrence’s weekly predictions way back because he always sits on the fence with the big games and predicts 1:1.
City. Always was. Always will be.
