A bit of an odd one, as he does not exactly have a clear path into their team.

Yet, RM are in a worse state than we are and have more aging players, those with more uncertain futures or just less competition in roles he can play, which is quite a statement about the position we are in as are they right now.

Given he's be back in his native country and hard to turn down a club like RM if they come calling, especially for a Spaniard, so I can see also other reasons why he goes there rather than a slightly smaller club that he can get into the team. Dortmund can't take every young attacking player in the same situation,.

I gather PL clubs were interested where he might have had a chance, but maybe also out of respect to City for not treating him badly, will go to another league.

It's no surprise really because he isn't very good. Not a patch on Foden or even Sancho and spends a lot of time on his backside. Scores a bit but the contrast in effectivensss when Mahrez (I think it was) replaced him in that match was striking.

Ideal for RM, they aren't very good either!!

Mahrez isn't 19. Compare them at the same age.

Surely he would be just as well off here as Real Madrid? Swapping one reserves role for another in Spain is crazy - look at Denis Suarez

Mate - he will never be a first team player at City, bar the odd token League Cup outing. Aint got it.

I agree with the post above saying Diaz looked more exciting than foden in alot of early games. Diaz is more of a dribbler who will take players on.

Has had foden had "more of" a chance than Diaz cos he's a blue? I think both should have had more game time by the way but get we have the lines of sane or Mahrez sat on the bench

Diaz loses the ball 10 times to Fodens no times.

Once again I'm staggered some folk can't see Diaz for what he is. Like many youngsters

Very true, he was supposed to be the next big thing (along with many others). So much can go wrong with the careers of promising youngsters, some fall below their trajectory and other, lesser players, rise above.

If Diaz does go to Real I wish him all the best, but it’s a massive stage to perform on, and huge expectations to live up to (just like he’d have pressure starting here). That Vinicius Junior doesn’t look shabby either, so bit of competition right there.
Diaz kinda reminds me of that Lopes we sold a few years back, and he’s done quite well for himself over in France from what I’ve seen/heard. Just gotta find their level and get some game time.

Might be wanting him on a free, loan him out for two years and sell him for €10/15m if he has made the grade. Rather like us and the Turkish lad Enal
