Bye Mangler, it's been emotional

Mase - this is why they gave him a one year deal. To get some return, little though it probably is:

Manchester City are finally set to offload defensive flop Eliaquim Mangala, with the player reportedly set for an emotional return to Porto.

The 28-year-old has spent the last two season on loan away from City in search of football, but endured an indifferent spell at Valencia before a miserable stint at Everton which saw him immediately ruled out injured.

Now Mangala is poised to move back to the team with which he made his name in attempt to revitalise his career, according to reports in Portugal.

Portuguese publication O'Jogo ran with the headline on Thursday stating that Mangala already has a deal in place with Porto.

City are understood to be happy to sanction the permanent deal, however the fresh reports add that Mangala's switch is dependent on medical results.

The France international has only just returned from the serious knee injury which he sustained on one his few Everton games during the loan spell.

Making his debut for the Toffees last season, Mangala was forced off at half-time with the knee issue, which later required surgery and kept him out for the entire campaign.

Should the move be completed, Mangala would bring an end to his City tenure following a five-year spell.

City parted with the pricey sum of £34million during the summer of 2014 to secure the services of Mangala, who was at that time one of Europe's most desired defenders.

I was actually expecting him to comeback somehow and score a huge winner.

The clever old fox that is Txiki Begiristain will have made sure he was fittish, made some enquiries about potential interest and then stuck a year contract on so we can get 5 or 10M for him soon after

Maybe it's even something to do with an imminent signing?

Weird why he'd agree to sign a new contract knowing he wouldn't get a bigger signing on fee with whoever he signs with. Him and his agent probably the thickest twats in the world.

First game for City against Chelsea he manhandled Costa and I thought what a great signing.

His two biggest problems were
1) he can’t play football....awful passer of a ball
2) any movement around him quick and cute he’s knackered. Cumbersome and dopy!
