I have not been one to blow smoke up Mancini's arse after winning a few decent games, and rightly so it appears, because the last 3/4 games have demonstrated that he has got it just as tactically and motivationally wrong as Hughes.

The only saving grace is that we started to look like an attacking force again later in the game & upped the workrate. If we start the next game like that then we can still get some momentum going.

One of the notable things for me that is killing us, is that there is no one linking the midfield and attack. In that game then we had Vieira, Barry and De Jong all sat in front of the back 4, johnson on the right touchline further up the field and the strikers about 60 yards upfield completely isolated.

We didn't have any real width either except when Johnson came in (for one side) and we have no penetration whatsoever. Although Ireland has been shite this season I feel he isn't being utilised properly. We should use him as the link man between the strikers and midfield. We were playing this formation today:
