Liverpool to wrap up the PL over the next 5 games?

Postby Dimples » Sun Sep 29, 2019 10:42 pm

What do people think the state of play will be after the match against Liverpool at Anfield?

If Liverpool win their next 5 matches I cannot see us winning the PL this year.
It would put them a minimum of 8 points ahead with 6 matches left against the top 6 (being kind and including MU here)
We would have 8 top six matches left to play.

Next 5 matches:
Liverpool have: Lei(H), MU(A), Spurs(H), Villa(A), MC(H) - (Then easy street for the next 9 games up to 11th Jan (Spurs Away))
We have: Wolves(H), Palace(A), Villa(H), Sou(A), Liv(A) - (Then Chel(H), MU(H) and Ars(A) in 3 of the next 5 games).

Last season we expected Liverpool's luck to break.
Not only did it not break it has continued into this season i.e. freak goals like this w/e, no injuries to key players, etc...
Our defensive injury crisis is a real concern especially against the better teams.

I see Liverpool ahead of us by 6 points after the Anfield clash. I cannot see up pulling that gap back.
IMO Liverpool are firm favorites to win the PL this year.

Luckypool cannot possibly continue getting results in the current manner

They must have SOME injuries surely and cannot continue winning by freak events and favourable calls.

Surely??

At least that's what i think

But there again what do I know!??!

It's the end of September. Give your head a wobble.

If we keep it around 5 points until Sane and Laporte return, I'll make us favourite for final push. There is a chance they will have a mini implosion at some stage, we just need to make sure we're ready to capitalise and no more hiccups like the Norwich one. If Van dick or Firnino get a lengthy injury it will effect them as a unit. It's very tight, fine margins. I wouldn't be surprised if we beat them at Klanfield with our depleted defence, the pressure will be on them.

Dippers can’t be far from our record of 18 wins in a row now, including last season. I can’t be bothered looking at their results, but would guess at 15. They might just break the 18 but it suggests they will stop pints soon, it’s not a record for nothing.

Think you're right with 15. They have Leicester, United, and Spurs next three Prem matches. I'd say if they win all 3 THEN we can say it's probable they'll win the league.

We will beat them at theirs and ours so their five points will then be irrelevant.

The dippers winning the PL after 12 games? Are we not playing the full 38 then?

Plenty of time left. For me, they are slight favourites at the moment and have a numerical points advantage but that is all. We were 10 behind at one point last season, albeit with a game in hand, so we can’t be too alarmed at this stage

They've been scraping wins in the league lately:

1-2 against Chelsea last week
0-1 (in the 70th minute) against Sheffield this past weekend, courtesy of a midfielder and not one of their SFS

...and that's without mentioning their loss to Napoli in the CL.

They are an attacking team (their supporters attack buses too).
As many on here have already mentioned, their front three are close to being fried from exhaustion, and they do not have the squad depth that we have.

Even if we do lose at Anfield on 10 November, it's far from over, just as recent history with these rat-eaters has shown us.

That would happen if they would be in a race versus Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs.

With City? You have to be mental to think we are out of it. The only moment we are out of the race it will be when mathematically will not be any chance.

So, no.

At some point those fuckers will break.

We will be there or thereabouts. If they win their next 5 games (which I dont think they will) the PL will not be lost. It's way too early.
