If it was the scorer deemed offside, wasn't number 67(?) playing him on?

I think they are claiming he was offside when the initial ball was played. Which technically he was but he wasn’t interfering with play. Then as he eventually scored they clutched at straws because he was onside from there on in.

A disgusting decision. And I’ve banged on about this for years, but the referee, VAR or on field, should be made to explain the decision for the sake of transparency

Amazing finish to the game.

A little bonus that Shearer is there to witness it

I just imagine being an Oxford fan at that moment.

I’ve just seen the goal and cannot for the life of me see an offside. Either it happened before the passage of play I seen, which should never have been used to disallow it as it was too far back, or the officials did not see the Liverpool defender playing him on, on the left side of the box. If it was the latter then it confirms that VAR wasn’t used and they disallowed it because the technology was not used and the VAR took an immediate look and missed the defender playing him onside.

I’m unsure of the timescale of the decision but if it was like Salah’s possible offside against us then it begs the question of why the official VAR wasn’t in use and, if not, why not? If not in use then the league is scratch as you can’t play a competition with different regulations for different teams.

Just an observation.

Of course, not much going on this weekend but when you look at how close 5th place to bottom is and to think that Spuds robbed us last time out . Further we are well into February and only the top 4 have the magical 40 points for safety. Crickey there's going to be some scraps going on to avoid relegation.

Very true. It’s been an exceptionally poor league this season.

Last season was also the same.
