Seemed more assured than he does when he’s the main man up front in his new left wing backy position, did the business defensively as well
I’m a bit of a “h8r” where Gabriel is concerned but maybe pep can work his new role magic on him?

Back in the '70s , the vermin signed Ray Kennedy from Arsenal as a striker, then converted him into a left mid with an ability to make late runs into the box and get on the end of things , so he ended up as a kind of auxiliary striker, getting a far share of goals without the pressure of being a recognised #9.

Last night was his best performance for us.
He has annoyed the hell out of me, but full credit for his immense workrate last night. We just wouldn't have got the result without it.

He played there quite a bit for Palmeiras, also right wing where he is currently playing for Brazil.
His finishing still needs work but I could never understand the hate for him, brilliant footballer.

Agree with this. I dont think he is a natural out and out striker and is therefore not Kun's replacement. Had Kun started, we would have missed out on Gabs' work rate and energy -although Kun may have put the other two chances away.....

I don't think it's hate for him, it's more watching a player that looks like he reached a certain point and can't become better.
For me last night was ok for him, not fantastic as KDB or Walker, but the real issue for me is that last night was the first time he showed up in a truly big game.
Can he build on from this game? That is the real question.
And to be in the subject of the thread, we've seen this once in the past: Etoo under Maureen at Inter.

like others have said, i don't hate him... he just frustrates the shit out of me.... he could be truly amazing if he could finish.... those 2 misses vs west ham last week were truly awful and he admitted as much in his post match interview.
talking of interviews, i LOVE how he's always up for them now and in english as well.

I only hate him when he misses.

He's done it when the pressure is on loads of times.
The lob at Southampton with the last kick of the game or we would have missed out on the Centurions tag.
The great finish against Spuds this season in stoppage time where VAR screwed us over.
Leicester away on Sat just after coming on.
We're lucky to have him.

Mate don't be using facts! some one is bound to counter that with one time at band camp Jesus did this. Lucky to have him, spot on.

Not really here

Maybe Pep was trying out Jesus wide as an alternative to Sane. He isn't going to be good/prolific enough to replace Aguero for my money. But, he is a fine player and maybe there's room for him in a wider position
