I don't believe the legal system has conspired with Arsenal to delay / time this in accordance with his contract - but such is the world we live in, that just the same as everyone becomes convinced we're paying off the entire world, it's a bad look for Arsenal and some of the insinuations flying around will end up sticking and damaging their reputation.
It's a tough one though isn't it.....ultimately we've been through this ourselves and the player's life was destroyed and we were robbed of the opportunity to use a player who had all the talent in the world. United could argue the same about Greenwood albeit his indiscretion became a lot more public and even though eventually no action was taken, the reputational hit was too great for them.
While precedent of Mendy and Greenwood offers no clue as to what has happened in this case with Partey, the difference we can be sure of, is that Arsenal must have spent a LOT of money on their legal team imposing injunctions to keep this quiet for 4 years.
So while the timing does stink to high heaven, as an organisation if they have simply blocked publication while the investigation has been ongoing, have they not arguably done the right thing - preserving the assumption of innocent until proven guilty?
