If then it turns out they don't quite have the talent to step it up so be it and they move on, but at least he is not fighting a stupid psychological battle first as happened with AJ.
Both Rodwell and Sinclair may fit into that approach and have been targeted for their attitude equally with talent.
I dont see iether of those signings as a short term fix for something, though now Nige is gone Rodwell might well get thrown in a fair bit.
You read Mancini's bio (from Wikipedia for example) and you can see that eversince he was player it has always been "my way or the highway" for him. He has won so much in his career that it's impossible to argue with his approach.
well it is very obvious City want intelligent players with a strong team ethic and to put a proper shift in. If he had DeRossi, Bob may well be happy to listen to any ideas of his, but with AJ types he would be a clown to listen to anything they might have in mind.
I've said it plenty of times but I don't want to see robot types at City, but there is a fine line between 100% availability during play, doing what Bob asks AND showing initiative, creativity and independence.
That mentality can be taught, but I also know for a fact in practice it cannot be taught to all individuals.
This may be one reason Laudrup has gone to Swansea for instance. And aother reason why ultimately the academy is the real golden goose.
Unlike others on here I'm really not too bothered we haven't signed 'big names'. In fact I'd rather Mancini spent the season experimenting and tinkering than strictly defending the title at all costs. 99% of fans will probs disagree, but for me there is something here about the very long term future of City. We dont need short term boosts anymore. We do need to build but we can afford a flat season if that is what it takes. eg.bring an EDS player to full on first team level.
