sure Rodwell isn't at De Jong's level right now, but he could shape up to be the next lampard, kid is packed full of promise

I like Rodwell as well. Already on sunday he seemed to be more on the page with rest of the lads after being pretty clueless week before about where to go and what to do. I think there's massive raw talent in him and I agree that he might well turn out to be much more balanced player than De Jong in few years.
Sinclair though....meh. He has got pace and is already familiar with kind of football we play. He has that going for him. And obviously the fact that he is English. But I honestly don't see the kind of potential in him to turn into top player. I think he is close to max of his potential as it is. He can offer some other dimensions but seems like only situational player for us. I felt we needed starting line up quality attacking midfielder. IF he signs I HOPE he proves me wrong though.

I think "meh" sumps it up completely, and I think that is the type of signing he is intended as. He'll happily sit on the bench, which is where he's bound, and he is capable of doing a job when needed. That's all a £6M+ can expect and be expected to do.

My take is that Mancini would rather have a player who's character is going to fit as much as the basic talent. strikes me he will gamble on the latter based on the idea they will learn from the staff and teammates. If then it turns out they don't quite have the talent to step it up so be it and they move on, but at least he is not fighting a stupid psychological battle first as happened with AJ.
Both Rodwell and Sinclair may fit into that approach and have been targeted for their attitude equally with talent.
I dont see iether of those signings as a short term fix for something, though now Nige is gone Rodwell might well get thrown in a fair bit.

You read Mancini's bio (from Wikipedia for example) and you can see that eversince he was player it has always been "my way or the highway" for him. He has won so much in his career that it's impossible to argue with his approach.
