However he obviously had his reasons for staying put. Also think jf you were a professional footballer playing for City & were good enough to go to a better club, would you. I've got to say i'd never play for the rags or dippers out of principle. Wouldnt want to live in London so that rules out the cockneys & theres not much then to choose from. Maybe him & his family were settled/happy & didnt want upheavel. Le tissier could have left southampton many times, but he loved it down there, he had his missus/mistress there too, his lifestyle was not on a par with what is expected from todays pro's either. The healthy living would have been a massive shock to his system. He did have it all though, exceptional player on his day.
