On the negative side........(ticket prices)

On the negative side........(ticket prices)

Postby saulman » Tue May 15, 2012 8:01 am

....does this mean that our season tickets are going to rocket in price next season because we're champions?
I suspect that after that end to the season, every man and his dog will be wanting a season card.

Has there been any news on this yet?

Nothing yet......cant blame em if the price goes up. But there is a price i wouldnt be prepared to pay.

If my 5ton ticket goes above 6, i will probably have to give serious thoughts about renewing at the moment.

yeah they've been very quiet on this and clearly wanted to wait until we were champs.I doubt they're going to announce any discounts.
OS says "coming soon" so question is when is the classy time to drop the bombshell?
I spose the good news is there were "extras" last yea rlike cup schemes and "platinum" that some people could drop off to take the pain out of any increase.
Interested to see if they stick with the real cheap ones they introduced last year too
Just wating for my invitation to join "Superbia" and a mortgage application form to go with it

I think it would make sense to increase the prices steadily, to show a rise in income year on year. If my understanding of the regulations is correct, you just have to show you are improving and moving your losses downwards towards a loss of 38M quid a year.

Be interesting to see when the plans for stadium expansion come.

Hopefully they will take the view that revenues on site can be increased with more bums on seats each person spending a little more in the store and bars etc rather than getting more out of tickets.

Spending on the stadium does not come under FFP but the extra revenue that it generates does!

Its 38m over 3 years though isnt it?

Increasing matchday revenue by increasing ticket prices will not make an appreciable difference to the clubs income.

Bear in mind that for a one of matchday ticket, prices have already reached £50, so i doubt very much that will be going up. Even if it did, say a fiver, that is an extra £50k per game or £1m per season based on 10,000 tickets being on sale.

Add a fiver a game to the remaining season tickets would push my season ticket to near 600 quid, increasing revenue per supporter by £100 over the season........which is only £3.7m

Total increase would be less than £5m

To put that into context, bridge is on just short of £5m per year.

An extra 15,000 seats at 700 quid a pop is 10.5m, but huge investment would be needed to make that happen and the return would come over decades not years......given how advanced our planning is for other long term infrastructure projects is, i am very surprised we have not heard more on this fron, which leads me to believe it isnt happening for one reason or another.

Getting rid of him will help then. :-)

Good points, John. Cheers. Thanks for the information.

Taken from the BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/search/sport/?q=ue ... on&text=on

This is the first season that counts towards the 2013/14 assessment but clubs will be allowed to make a loss of 45m euros (£37.5m) over the three years, falling to 30m euros from 2015/16

It is not until 2018 that clubs have to bring their annual losses below £8.8m

hee hee was just about to comment on your thread! Still if BM can have a 700 page thread I guess we can have a new stadium expansion thread - and it shouldnt be under "negative news"

as for great minds ----- mine is still a bit addled from Sunday and I don't really drink! Emotional trauma!

I'm in East level 2 and whilst I enjoy my new comfy seat this season, I am worried that they'll price me off out of the block. The ticket for last season was around £600, which when you consider what happened, was worth every penny and then some.

That said, I can only stretch so far financially and really hope the club don't go down the same route as Arsenal, Chelski and to a certain extent The Scum, with the ticket prices.

Before i moved to the family stand, I paid 650 for a seat in the cb stand just a few years ago, to sit on the end seat of a row - where the person across the aisle was paying 400.

It is now cheaper for me to pay for my ticket in the family stand, plus a kids ticket for a stepson i no longer have, than move elsewhere in the stadium.

I suppose we know that increases will happen, but i suppose i have to say that even if they hit us badly, i will still probably pay less for 2 season tickets than i did for one in 2008.

Family Stand's where its at John, you know that!

I used to sit in the East Stand, but now take 2 kids with me and sit on tier 2 in the Family Stand and with the prices for the kids and value for money Ill be staying right where I am until the kids are too old and I have to move! The prices initially forced me to move behind the goals, but to be honest having sat all over the stadium any seat on the second tier gives you a great view.

At those prices, if they remain the lowest priced by such a long margin, im not being funny, ill make another kid up when these lot all hit 16 in a couple of years.

Wes is after moving into the comfy seats next year, but i just cant stomach paying so much for a ticket that i might not even be able to use much next season.

Yeah I go with my 11 year old son but in five years, he'll be too old to qualify for a ticket in the family stand and I worry that if I moved over there, would there be space elsewhere in the stadium when he's too old to sit there? I understand that you can't get in without a kid in tow so what happens when your kids aren't kids?

All that said, I love my seat in East and I'll stay where I can for as long as I can. Fingers crossed they don't increase too much.

Have you been in the family stand? You could count the kids on one hand! You do though need to buy a kid's ticket as well as an adult one, so you need to find a kid to two with you in a few years time. Think I'll be swapping the elder daughter's name to the younger son's in a few years.

Fully agree. We don't need the money, but we'll have to bring it in just because it's 'fair' to rip off working people.

Has Wes won the lottery?

Agree on staying John, its better value for money and still a great view.

I sat in the family stand for the Bayern Game and yeah, the atmosphere was fine. I do prefer the view I have in East though. I'm on the front row just to the left of the corporate. I would struggle to get a seat that good ever again, I think. It's worth the few extra quid. (or few extra hundred!!)

For me and my lad it cost under £800. If they keep it below £900 for the pair, I'll be happy under the circumstances.
