I agree he has broken the rules. But correct me if I am wrong, but is 18 months the going rate for these type of offences? Or is his punishment disproportionate?
Personally, I think it's a silly rule. I don't understand why a footballer can't bet on football, as long as he isn't betting on his own side.

He did though. He bet on some of our games when he was playing for us. Had bets on himself scoring, which makes you wonder about him taking shots when other options may have been on.

Agreed, the stakes are quite high on his appeal not resulting in him being dealt a soft hand.
