it used to be Milner for me - I thought he was all grit and no end product.
He's really grown (in confidence?), though, but he still have those games when he can't get a single pass right.

Used to be Richards for me. Following him getting his big contract and before last season he bcame (IMO) totally up his arse - always out of position and never arsed to get back after his forays upfield (where he had invariably lost the ball through a lack of skill or a football brain) - I referred to him as the workds best paid jogger.
Last season he seemed to 'switch on' - maybe because he was not longer a 'big fish' or he could see the end to the gravy train if he did not make the grade before renewal time. Whatever - he came good, which means that I have to plump for Steve McManaman and David Seaman - was there ever better examples of players lazily seeing out their last years by taking a wage and not putting in the effort - perhaps Fowler as well in that bracket - is he still playing even now??

I really didn't rate him when he was here and didn't want us to sign him after the loan. Can't remember why I didn't like him anymore and it's now my guilty secret.
Don't feel bad. You can respect and mourn the man without having turn an analysis of his career into hagiography.
In truth, he actually was quite poor until about February, but after that he sprung into action, was all over the pitch, a constant goal threat and a key part in us finishing ninth in our first season back.
Me and my brother used to call him Kryten. I wonder if you can guess why.

If I had to choose one, I'd probably say Keith Curle.
He was a great player for us, but even as a youngster (I was eleven when he left in '96), I remember thinking there was something about his personality that got on my tits. When he then slyly slagged the club following our relegation and his signing for Wolves, I felt vindicated.
But, to be honest, I've always been the glass-half-full, happy clapping eternal optimist that I am now. I vividly remember punching the air in delight when I saw on teletext that the Gareth Taylor deal had gone through.

I'd say similar things about the also beloved Shaun Goater, compared to Rosler.
Calm down lads it's one thing having a go at Uwe even though you are wrong Roger. But you leave the Goat out of this the man is an out and out legend.
I can't add a player to this I love them all

I think I mentioned a while back but I saw him in Bromley shopping centre, I was wearing my city top and thought i'd say hi, as I tried to make eye contact he made it quite clear that he didnt want to say hello lol.
Thought he came across as a right arrogant cunt myself...

Witty.
Have to agree though, as much use as the proverbial fart in a space suit.
Also still very annoyed with Rodney Marsh for not slotting into the team as I'd hoped. (I have a long memory!)

If Andy Cole hadn't played for the club it'd be Alan Ball. One half-time team-talk consisted more or less in: "You're all fat cats!"

Richard Dunne. He was a mistake waiting to happen. He headed the ball like he had a 50p shaped head and some of his rush of bloods cost us like the last minute needlessly conceded corner against scouse 2. I know he was highly thought of by a lot of people but after being brought up watching Dave Watson and Mike Doyle I just didn't feel the love.

I have two that are equally bad.
Vassell - pace to burn but always offside and Never Ever ran back to get onside if an attack broke down. I gave up counting the amount of times he couldnt be involved in a break when we won the ball back because he was still fuckkng dawdling back. Infuriating and irritating.
The other one was Ricky Holden. Why did we ever bother signing him. I remember quinny hailing his arrival and saying how he was looking forward to getting on the end of the crosses and how we have signed the best crosser of the ball in the league. I dont think so Niall, as Ricky Holden could not get past any right back in the league to even attempt a cross. Woeful footballer and slower than my nans stannah stair lift.

Carlo fucking Nash.
Useless cunt of a keeper whose run in the Prem side coincided with a time when we needed points. The useless prick was just unable to keep a clean sheet. We lost every prem game he played.
Attack the argument of the person, not the person of the argument- except Carl.

Actually...Elano
Possibly the most over-rated player to don a city shirt...pinged the odd crossfield ball...lazier than Jo on the passover

aaron bond wrote:I guess in the current squad mine is Nastasic. Let me just be clear I don't hate the man himself! I'm just talking in terms of a player a lot of people rate, who I don't as much. I think he's a decent player, who has been good this season but not exceptional (as others think), and I can't see him turning into a world class player.
I hope he does, but just don't see what attributes he has to get him there at present.
In my opinion, he's not good in one-on-one situations and neither is he good in the air. The amount of times the opposition launch an attack up to a forward who Nastasic is marking, the forward has time to bring it down and lay it off to someone else. Nastasic not cutting the ball out then is unnoticed as the attack moves on and it becomes someone else's responsibility. His strong point is his calmness on the ball, which is excellent for someone of his age, but it's the key defensive attributes that concern me.
He's slotted in without too many problems this season, but then he is surrounded by Clichy, Zab, Kompany and Barry. The few times both Kolo and Lescott have played this season, they've had standout games. Nastasic hasn't.
That probably seems quite harsh on someone who is so young, and I would love him to prove me wrong. I'm just not sure he will.
This guy disagrees with you:

Harsh. Elano was at least effective. Assists and goals weren't bad considering he was moved all around our midfield.

George Weah, I was still only in my first few years as a City supporter and I only knew of him as the footballer of the year, and didn't think at 33 he would be done considering he played well in his short time at Chelsea the year before. He couldn't hold Goater or even Wanchope's jockstrap.
Current day it is clearly Nasri.
Surprised more of you "old-timers" aren't going to jump in with Rodney Marsh?
I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I am all out of bubblegum.

I would have said Lescott but he has obviously been reading my posts on him and his performances have been excellent lately, so I will give him a pass.
Nasri is on my cunts list , I will never ever forgive the coward for losing us the Derby game - He can fuck off this summer.

Gerry fucking Creaney. Swapping Paul Walsh for that useless pile of shite rates pretty high up there on the list of criminal transfers that City have ever made. Oh and Nigel Clough. Best match I ever saw him play was at centre half after we were relegated under Ball. Enough said.
